Dynamo Dilemma.. to the tune of 50 ways by Paul Simon
The problem is all inside your head she said to me
The answer is easy if you take it logically
I'd like to help you in your struggle to be free
There must be fifty ways to stay in hackneyShe said it's really not my habit to intrude
Furthermore, I hope my meaning won't be lost or misconstrued
But I'll repeat myself at the risk of being crude
There must be fifty ways to stay in hackneyYou just hang about at the back, Jack
do a few track-stands, man
You don't need to grind through night
Just lose yourself around London Fields, alright?
Or hop on the bus, with us
You don't need to spend much or make a fuss
Just drop by for some fun in the park or pub
And let yourself free..She said it grieves me so to see you in such a fret
cos you booked onto the coach, and you’re hating a bed-wet
I said I appreciate that and would you please explain
About the fifty ways...She said why don't we both just do some tramp beers tonight
And I believe in the morning you'll begin to see the light
And then she kissed me and I realized she probably was right
There must be fifty ways to stay in hackneyCruising about doing skids in the street
smoke all evening, then do kebab or a burger treat
I don't need to be grinding through night
Just lose myself around Dalston sounds alright?
Then hop on the bus, leave my bike with LFGSS
You don't need to spend much or make a fuss
Besides I really ain’t got any decent lights
And my rapha jeans are just a little too tight.Drum solo play out....
Bump..

I'm out. The weather doesn't seem right for such a challenging ride.

• #104
Might come up to see you off to Dalston, though

This was too much for me. Maybe next year?
-
• #112

i was feeling too knackered hot and bothered after a ride down the road to the post box
maybe next year -

Was thinking about doing it but forgot to eat enough pasta over the past week. Would have flagged by before even getting to Dalston lane.

Ahhh I would have done this but didn't want to cycle all that way on my own in the dark.
Will be up for it next year if I can find people to ride with.

I caught the Ginger Line Overground on Saturday evening. Rode the Brompton in flip-flops from Dalston Junction station to London Fields. Met with a handful of riders from the other place, bade them a safe ride before riding back to the station without bothering with the half way stop. Caught the first available southbound train. No need for an advance ticket as I had my Oyster card. No trouble whatsoever with loading my bike onto the train. Back home by around 21:00.
Didn't find the ride particularly taxing. Would probably ride again next year. If the forecast is for a dry night. -

I find the route a bit confusing, can it be simplified to have fewer turns?
-
• #117
I actually drifted off the route and used Wilton Way instead of Graham Road as I wanted to avoid traffic and other cyclists.
It seems to have worked.
I'll probably go that way again. -

I can't believe people here haven't heard about the secret thread for this year's ride, but then again that may be because it's secret.
-
• #119
Considering Southwark Cyclist have just cancelled the return transport for this years Dunwich Dynamo; I'm gonna do Dalston Dynamo for real this year !
-
• #120
Better you than me. I'm way off my usual form, so couldn't possibly consider a ride this hard.
An easier alternative is the Dulwich Dynamo, of course.

-

This is the kind of thing I think I should be involved in these days. Filth > Mileage.
Oh I am so in for this. Both of my pals riding the DD have managed to sort out lifts so no need for me to drive up and camp the night. See u on the fields
