• Will check those details for you and let you know.

  • ^ Thanks Clara that would be grand. I am not convinced that wearing a cotton t-shirt that will probably be ill-fitting will improve my safety over a 113 mile ride...

And the helmet debate thing, yeah it's been discussed ad nauseum already.

  • I don't think whatever one's stance on the helmet wearing thing anyone thinks that compulsory helmet wearing is a good thing. It's a personal choice and all the evidence shows that if you make it compulsory it puts people off cycling. It's a worrying trend.

I had a number of emails after signing up for the competition without unsubscribe links, which is actually illegal. I could have reported the organisers to the Information Commissioner. Perhaps they ought to prioritise complying with existing legislation before they start enforcing things like t-shirt and helmet wearing which are not statutory requirements.

  • I see 'Low' are appearing......top band ...enjoy...

  • I don't think whatever one's stance on the helmet wearing thing anyone thinks that compulsory helmet wearing is a good thing.

    You'd be surprised ...

  • Ok so the T-shirts are not going to be cotton. They are just about to go into production and I have insisted the be Bamboo. The wearing of them is not Compulsory it's just to identify you at the food stops so they don't randomly start feeding passers by. Giveto Go and 2 wheels are and Irish company and it is compulsory to wear helmets when they do the rides over there, now this is not the case in the UK and I am in talks with their insurers about whether this is the case - let me get back to you on that. I think we can all agree that closed shoes is a good idea.
I'm also raising the issue of the unsubscribe button, I am sure this is just an error, but I will confirm as soon as I can.

  • Hi Clara,

As you're here, I have a quick question - is there anything I need to do before the Tour de Latitude. I'm away from home until the evening of the 10th so if there's any mail/instructions, I won't see them.

    Thanks!

  • I was wondering actually when/how we'll recieve more info on what happens on the day. Like where to meet and what times etc?

Anybody know? Just need to arrange to get some additional transport sorted to get to the start line.

  • I'm looking into it. Bear with me

  • No problem - thank you!

  • Hi all, ok so the tshirts are given to you in your goodie bag and you do not have to wear them on the ride, helmets are also optional but you are covered iunder the their insurance if you wear one and not if you don't so the choice is yours. You will be given a armband which is to be worn at all times do you can be identified at the food stops and to stop randoms from joining the ride.
For those who are signed up you will get an email with all the details of the ride and extra info later today. Hope this helps.
    Thanks

  • ^ Thanks so much for the info Clara, it is much appreciated.

  • Yes, thank you - that's fantastic!

  • Prendas are making us some cycling caps up too! They look wicked but again the wearing of these caps is not compulsory. :-)

  • Just got my welcome pack through for this. Anyone else planning on travelling up from Hackney?

    I am so excited!

  • :)

  • For those who are signed up you will get an email with all the details of the ride and extra info later today. Hope this helps.
    Thanks

    Hi Clara,

I haven't received any information by email. Is it possible to post some instructions up here about where to meet/what time etc so I can book trains and make sure our bikes can go.

    Thank you!

  • You should have had all those details over a week ago. PM me you email and I'll send again - sorry!

  • can not wait

    Got them - thank you!

  • can not wait

Me neither! I'll be manning the Ipswich food stop so say hello when you roll through!

  • What a great festival! Just wanted to say thanks to the Tour de Latitude guys and gals for a good ride (although I'm hoping that there will be stuff going out for feedback at some point?) and also to say hi to all the forumites that I met on the ride.

    Good stuff all round. :D

  • It was a great weekend, but I will reserve my critique on the weekend once I get my bike back....

After speaking to my brother, and said condition of his bike on its return today, I can only sit here and hope that I don't have the same result..

UPDATE : Minutes after writing this above, the doorbell went and I've just got my bike back. It's all in one piece, with a small nick in the paintwork, so happy days! No need to have worried. I wont elaborate on the state of my brother's bike,,,

  • @Ep, they said they'd be getting in touch about feedback requests..
