  • Benotto is nice, rode one for awhile and really like the geometry, you're right on top of the front wheel.

  • been fighting with new tyres

  • You put them on wrong. Nice project though

  • logos not lining up?

  • what tyres are they??

  • Challenge criterium

  • Just got around to fitting the super record headset, and the steerer isn't long enough to fit the lock nut

Need to work out a solution

  • Damn, had the same problem with my fork and a DA 7410 headset, if you find any solutions, let me know please, cause now I don't use my trackforks but some road ones.

  • Nice frame!

  • if steerer lengthening is possible in hungary then i think you can do it on the islands too.. (any good framebuilder) been running on lengthened forks - never had a problem with them.

  • Yoy could:

    • choose a cheaper headset with less stack height
    • mill 1 mm from lower and upper head lug and from fork crown and forget the 1mm washer of the headset
    • look out for another fork.
  • I have heard Campagnolo Pista headsets have a lower stack height

I was also wondering if I could mill some off the crown race as it seems fairly deep

The chance of finding some Benotto SLX forks is going to be highly unlikely

  • if you come across a campag pista headset, please dibs it for me.. only item i'm missing from my build. it's even rarer than the benotto slx forks..

what's the problem with steerer lengthening, if i might ask? i think the frame and forks are too nice to just mill them down anywhere. if it was the only option, i would definitely go with the forks though..

  • how does steerer lengthening work?

  • well, i don't really know as i'm no expert.. but i took the forks with the short steerer to the framebuilder, he took an old fork with enough column length over the thickened part (near the crown the crown, the steerer tube is thicker - sorry for this info, i do not mean to insult.. just in case you did not know) and BOOM. i think it involved brazing but could not find any traces of cutting, brazing or anything else on the finished forks. (not even inside the tube) and i'm sure he did not just switch the steerers of the two forks as the second one's was just as short as mine..

  • I am having big problems getting the 27.2 seatpost to fit

Everywhere I have looked online says slx should be 27.2 but its tighter than fat girls bikini

  • I've got a benotto Paris-roubaix frame from a similar era, though lower in the range, and that has a 26.8 seat post. Had trouble finding a post so I'm using a shimmed 25mm item.

  • cheers bombcup, could be 26.8 I guess, it was just that I have been told as it's slx it should be 27.2

  • If it's slx you must be able to see and feel the ribs/coils from inside the bb shell.

  • Finished!

A few snags, the 27.2mm seatpost feels far too tight, even though everyone tells me it should fit, and I don't like the position of the brakes, they need to be higher

  • NIce! What did you eventually do to the steerer to fit the forks?

  • Gran Sport headset, shorter stack height

  • A total beaut! I've gotta start a new project.
