from a good friend ;)
You need a large piece of thick and expensive leather to cut 135cm tapes......and i was blocked from snowfall in his land during my vacations...

I was looking at the cotton stuff on eBay, anyone know if its any good? What's it feel like?
Give it a go. If you don't like, you've only lost out on a few quid.
Personally I like. It's grippy, hardwearing and cheap. Although 1 layer of the tape feels fairly hard...a lot of people double wrap for a little extra cushioning.

Brooks.

just ordered a couple of rolls of white newbaums cotton tape, going to give the harlequin a go on my girlfriend's bianchi. I'm going to fuck it up.

also, does anyone know where I can get some wood or cork bar plugs for cheap? the cheapest I've found is around a tenner, which seems a bit steep.

I think the brooks ones are like £5 or just use old corks from wine bottles?
-
• #390
Wine corks will probably be too fat, I've used corks from rum and whisky bottles before though and they stayed in better than the Brooks ones...
-
• #391
I couldn't find anywhere selling the brooks ones for some reason. If I'm just being thick a link would be appreciated!

Or buy in store here (assuming you're in London) and save on postage: http://www.bicycleworkshop.co.uk/products.php?plid=m2b0s140p333

Cheers, I'm not in London so would have to pay for postage. Are there any alternatives that are more plain? As in, don't have the brooks logo?

I guess that would give me an excuse to buy some booze...
-
• #397
I just use wine corks and kind of shave off about a mill around the edge so they wedge in then the unreamed part sits flush with the outside of the bars.
-
• #398
even more easier: get some corks made for test tubes, they are already conical shaped so they easy fit into the bar ends and stay there properly. you can get about 40 for about 4 euro online...

That's a banging idea! My girlfriend's dad works in a lab so he might be able to swipe some.
