  • Outside diameter seems to be 51mm, and top of headtube to top of metal compression ring is 2.5mm with preload on. Does that sound right?

  • Safe in the meantime?

Yes, it's safe. Using a dust cover just keeps solid contaminants away from the upper bearing seal, which might extend the bearing service life.

The biggest I have in stock is 48mm, which will function but obviously won't align with the OD of your ZS-style headset.

  • Would it look ok? It'd leave a 1.5mm gap all round, right?

  • Ideally I'd have: tester cap, appropriately sanded-to-size carbon spacer, stem, tester steerer cap. That'd work, right?

  • That'd work, right?

It would work, but I'm not in love with carbon spacers. Better to go full #tester_approved and get a set of my spacers while you're at it

  • It'd leave a 1.5mm gap all round, right?

    Yes

  • I've put my name down for a top cap. Can I combine postage? £10 for bearing cover, £12.50 for top cap and £2.50 postage, is that right?

I presume you're not planning any 51mm caps anytime soon?

  • Can I combine postage? £10 for bearing cover, £12.50 for top cap and £2.50 postage, is that right?

It's even better than that, since the £10 cover already includes postage, so it's £22.50 total.

I presume you're not planning any 51mm caps anytime soon?

    Not unless you want a one-off at £100 :)

  • I'd love a one-off, but I think my budget can live with a little gap around the edge.

Where shall I send cash? I guess I'll have to wait until more people order top caps? No worries - I can ride bike with bearing out until then. I'll just try not to drip sweat into it...

  • I guess I'll have to wait until more people order top caps?

Yes, if you want the combined postage. If you want the bearing cover now, let me know.

  • Happy to wait. Where shall I send cash?

  • Where shall I send cash?

I'll send details when the top cap run is ready to start.

  • I don't suppose anyone knows what size a 2012 Cervelo R5 would need?

Don't have the bike to hand, but am considering a switch from the stock 15(?)mm conical cover and a -17 degree stem for -6 stem and minimal dust cover.

  • Probably 45x2 like all the other Cervelos, but best to measure.

  • I'm from the USA. Bank transfers are quite costly (roughly the cost of 2 of your top covers). Do you do any sales via paypal?

  • Do you do any sales via paypal?

    No.

  • Where'e the list? I want one.

  • Where'e the list? I want one.

There's no list at the moment, but 45,46,47 and 48mm diameters are in stock in 2mm and 3mm depths. If one of those fits, PM me, otherwise start a list for special sizes but it will be a long wait.

  • Will measure up tonight and send you a PM.

  • Do you have any not anodized in stock? 46x3mm.

  • Do you have any not anodized in stock?

    No

  • Buy one then use Oven Pride.
Comes off in about 30s with a bit of agitation.
Polished both of mine; works a treat!

  • Thought about it. I have deanodized lots of stuff previously.
Right now though, I'm debating just chucking the comical(conical) spacer under the mill...

  • My frame uses a 41.8mm top bearing, would a 45 fit this and if so can I have a 2mm one? please and thankyou :)
