  • i can't believe that he didn't retract his comment and apologise. as some others have said on this thread before, his board of directors or equiv must be tearing their hair out.

not only is he losing current business, but my finger in the air guesstimate is that propensity to use addison lee or equivalent tends to increase with seniority, which is (generally) correlated with age. Therefore, considering that many of london's cyclists seem to be under 40 (another estimate based on riding around the city for a few years), he's basically fucked his pipeline!

  • very good idea

  • From the guardian's website
Breaking news: Minicab company Addison Lee, which urged its drivers to use bus lanes, has lost its government contract. More details soon ...

  • ^ does that mean it might give them an even better excuse to "kill" on the road now that they don't have a so called image to protect?

  • Yes, he had been clearly "coached" and I am not sure I believe he was really stuck in traffic

She was nice but, and Evan was his usual condescending self..

Once again, I am in dispair after such a story. Why can't one of the organisations ( CTC , LCC etc ) have a decent media department to manage this sort of thing, ie to be the " go to " organisation for the voice of cycling. BC won't or can't be as its in bed with Murdoch and I hope is using a long spoon or other form of contraception.

  • do we know anyone on the inside
i would love to know how much business they have lost in the last two weeks
we should send in a mole

  • agree re. traffic - that was utter bollocks for sure.

also, if their share price tanks shall we start an LFGSS buyout? Velocio for chair!

The LCC has an extremely good 'media department' and so does the CTC. If they call another organisation to comment, there's not a lot that either can do, as we often only hear about it afterwards. We have previously commented fairly extensively on the Addison Lee story, and I suppose they may have wanted to get an organisation that they hadn't talked to before. I didn't listen to the programme, though, so I'm just speculating.

  • The Guardian now covering the loss of the government contract: http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2012/apr/27/addison-lee-loses-government-contract

  • Oliver, I beg to differ

If LCC had a decent communications team they would have stopped the " Go Dutch" campaign in its tracks. Most people don't get what its about it until its explained to them; which is a failure .

And what the hell does permeablity mean?

The motor and car lobby are in the premier league, some times cycling is still on Hackney Marshes

  • Online petition signed & contract pulled by company I work for.

  • ^ top work!

  • seems like a massive u turn by Griffin................
