An interesting moment. The black cabs union bosses were there. They said they will be doing their own protest and came to support 'the cyclists'. .
Interesting indeed - Black Cabs protesting in support of cyclists safety ?
Worlds gone mad etc ...

yes a long Des poem Oliver.
The black cabbies were keen to get some feedback about how their riding compares to the addison lee drivers. I kept things positive with them

Easy to round them up into a single bad group, but the Addison Lee is a very different brunches.
You can eat them??

I like the support, but I got absolutely fucked over by a black cab on waterloo bridge on the way home who cunted it past me in the wind and rain leaving cms to spare. Easily the most reckless thing I've ever experienced, doing 50 and barely touching my arm, giving me bolt of adrenaline like a rod up the arse. So you'll forgive me if I'm not inclined towards feeling of warmth for the black cab union's words.
If something like that happens I'm usually angry, but this time I felt pretty humbled by the utter cuntfoolery.

Paint one awful incident onto 20,000 other black cabs however...

No shit, I was careful not to say all black cabs. You being a pedant is very ironic.

Sorry. I said I wasn't angry at the time, but now I'm ruminating about it...

Gosh! I would have signed, but I am german citizen and also normally live here (my aunt living in Surrey does not count). Politicians here recently started a campaign that looks like they want to declare war against cyclists. But I guess things are much worse in London if a company feels able to give their employees "carte blanche" to kill cyclists. Plain horror.

Well, obviously it all gets rather overcooked, especially in some of the media. Equally obviously, Griffin hasn't given anyone carte blanche to kill.
I can only imagine that people are confusing, merging, or exaggerating two things there: his strange decision to exhort his drivers to break the law concerning bus lanes, and his victim-blaming attitude in the Addison Lee magazine. Both are completely unacceptable, but of course together they don't make 'carte blanche to kill cyclists'.
Imagining the possible consequence of someone dying is legitimate, especially as a tool of protest. It still doesn't mean that Griffin actually said or meant to call for killing. His defence against that charge is a lot clearer than Matthew Parris' a few years ago when he 'jokingly' said that people should string chicken wire across country lanes to decapitate cyclists.

As much as Addison Lees boss has earned the WAC of the year award with his comments, all this Black Cabs being are new best friends is a bit much for me.
Hands down the most dangerous motor viehcle drivers I encounter whether it be on my motorbike or push bike are black cabbies, I am almost killed on a daily basis by them pulling u turns or screaming to a halt to pick up a fair without looking out.
And if you are stuck at 4am in the arse end of bumble fuck on a Saturday night then no app is going to get you a taxi in 10minutes like calling up a PH will.

I feel that any dialogue between cyclists (i hate the 'anyone on 2 wheels is a friend' thing but i suppose its convenient here) and black cabs is a good thing. I know they do drive dangerously but this sudden agreement can only be a positive thing in light of slowly changing road users' opinions on cyclists...

It felt a bit hollow coming from the die-in and having 2 close passes by black cabs in the bus lane, even if some tooted in support. Black cabs are hardly "allies", but whether they should have access to bus lanes is an argument for another day when all sundry of minicabs don't decide to go into the bus lane.

An AL cab has just almost taken me out by changing lanes across me at Old Street roundabout. He then slowed down and told me "Fuck you, you fucking cunt".
A fine advertisement for the company. Will have to see when I get home this evening if I managed to capture it all on my Hedcam.
