Came here to post that. It would be good to see his employer announce their intention to follow his lead. Somehow, I suspect lip service and attempted PR gains are more likely. We can but hope that my cynicism is misplaced.

Two things to take from that link.

1. Tao is an amazing human.
   
2. The majority of people in the comments section are not.
   

Why would you read the comments? Even our dear own Procycling thread has had me put more people on ignore than any other. It's not hard to guess what it would be like BTL on that site.

No one is perfect, and nothing will be. Sometimes it is best to accept someone is doing their best.

He's not picking on him though, is he? He's responding with some thoughtful and critical ideas and sets them in the context of a sport that is doing virtually nothing about racism, that is only at the very start of acknowledging that it has a problem. I would think Tao would take his points seriously rather than be defensive or dismissive about them and see that the contribution of a black academic with a genuine interest in cycle sport is something to be welcomed.

^ agree with this, plus IIRC Tao acknowledged he didn’t have all the answers and asked for input/suggestions. That’s what this looks like to me.
