Driving in the bus lane (during the hours when the Bus Lane is operative and other than to pick up and set down passengers) is a criminal offence therefore I can't really understand why John Griffin has not been arrested and charged with [ame]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Encouraging_or_assisting_crime[/ame]

It's not a criminal offence though, is it?
It is a criminal offence:

I thought it was parking in bus lanes that was decriminalised.

Or, you just don't notice. Like that chap on the elephant and castle roundabout.
Or I am a magnet, like the almost head on with a black cab going to wrong way down a one way street.
you're attracted to danger, the thrill of the chase.. admit it..

People who get angry about shit driving will bear a grudge for miles and miles and hours and hours and then develop a perception bias because of it, so they're more likely to be looking for it and remembering it and stewing about it in a frothy rage.
Yeah I think you're right about that.
but come on ... [rant incoming]
Addison Lee, infact all those green stickered private hire drivers, really are the biggest twats on the road. Eyes on their satnav. Often learnt how to drive in a foreign country, with a very different driving culture. Poor lane discipline. Don't know where they are/where they're going. Big people carriers with poor visibility. Often dicking about with their phone sending emails/texts/hooking up their bluetooth. Usually the few drivers about in the early hours, doing excess speeds because they can get away with it and the roads are empty. I'm generally a calm rider but If I ever get arrested/injured/killed on the road, 99% chance it'll involved one of these bastards.

TfL are wrong.
I would hesitate to take legal advice from them.
The Road Traffic Act 1991 decriminalises bus lane offences.
I'm happy to shown otherwise though, if you can find the relevant and applicable legislation.
Personally I've got no idea but the overwhelming evidence on the internet suggests you are wrong, ie
'Bus-lane contraventions have not been decriminalised. While they may be enforced by a council through the civil procedure, they may also be enforced by the police through criminal proceedings. If the police begin criminal proceedings, the council cannot enforce through the civil procedure.'

That tie suggests he never will.
Potentially one removed from the gene pool. Optimism, optimism, optimism.
Whatever the legislation, local edicts and by-laws state, it still means that the smallest veichle on the road (we cyclists) are still in the path of the largest veichle on the road (buses)* we're now faced with the largest cunts on the road attempting to legitimise their potentially psychotic driving behaviour. (AL, as if that needed an explanation!)
- In my paultry experience a mere year back in London after a 7 year hiatus, bike/bus interaction has improved ten fold imho. Many will disagree (a close call a few months back made me question that, but, faith has oft been restored by the big red brethren)

It would be nice if people took pride in their driving, and strove to do it well.

Speaking not long ago to an insurer who specialises in esoteric motoring risks such as ice cream vans and taxis.
In hardened economic times they see an increase in claims. Their research shows that this is because taxi drivers spend more time plying for trade and looking at pedestrians who may be possible fares and therefore take their eyes off the road.
Worth bearing in mind. Worth being a little more cautious around black cabs in these tough economic times.

Was it inside the lane's operating hours or outside?
I think it was after 7.
-
• #149
I think it was after 7.
It is probably a 12-hour bus lane (7am-7pm) or a peak-only bus lane (7am-10am, 4pm-7pm).
A lot of drivers don't seem to realise that most bus lanes have very limited operating hours and stay out even when they could drive in them. I would guess that Addison Lee had that one in a briefing to their freelancers a long time ago.

Are they risks because they're potential paedo's and rapists, respectively?
