cool, out of interest though, anyone know what the clamp size is on this?
-
• #878
It comes with rubber things so you can have it oversize or standard.

Been using mine for 3 years commuting everyday, shoved in my bag during work etc and no problems whatsoever. Some people don't like the clamp but it works fine for me.

I find the rubber things are rubbish, the clamp is fine without them. I have a bit of 'bondage tape' on the bars instead.

I just superglued them in.

Uh-oh.

This, I lost the rubber things pretty early on. No point gluing the rubbers in as I have different sized bars on my bikes.

Just taken the Garmin 705 I got for my birthday out of its box for the first time. Anyone got a GPX file for DD - and some idea of how to load it in...?

I have 2x seatpost panniers for sale, they're the £40 Topeak jobbies from Evans used once for L2P last year. £20 each if anyone is interested.

Here is a gpx file http://sdrv.ms/LhTYQX
Not sure on the 705, place it in the newfiles? folder
You may need to convert the gpx to tcx here http://www.bikeroutetoaster.com/Course.aspx -

re. the Garmin, I presume it is similar to use to the 605 (which i have)......you can drop the GPX file into the "GPX" folder on the Garmin, Then to have it beep and tell you where to turn etc, go to "Where to>Saved Rides>Whatever_the_filename_is.gpx
From here you should have the option to "Navigate" It should calculate the map and then you're off. Or, like mine (which I think may dislike me as it doesn't like to do what its told, it'll say it's calculating for a good 15 mins and then nothing will happen!) Your route should be marked onto the Garmin's map anyway and you can follow it manually. Or hopefully yours will behave itself and it'll calculate the directions without any problems.... -

Had a grand training ride today, 130km out into the rolling Essex countryside, around Hertford and back. It was one of those lovely times when the sunny weather follows you and all the black clouds seem to be raining on somebody else!
Gave me the chance to test the setup and get a few long miles in on the bike...
Sure there's not too many "touring" lo-pros around!*
*Hopefully I'll be forgiven for raising the stem a bit!

^rep'd for genuinely intending to do it on a lo pro
-

Its actually not quite as crazy a drop as it looks, especially with the stem raised a bit. The shoulders are a wee bit sore but if the 80 miles today with the fair hills of the Essex countryside are anything to go by, another 30 on more gentle terrain should be fine. In fact I might head out now* and just ride up and down Telegraph Hill just to get the mileage up!
*Probably not. -

I beg to differ;

I've seen enough garmins go crazy trying to do turn-by-turn navigation that I just do the map display now: Where to -> Saved rides -> DD20.gpx; change colour to something contrasty and check the "show on map" option then OK. Go back to map and the route will be a line on it. Follow line until eating eggs at the caf in Dunwich.

I've just taken delivery of a NiteRider Mako 1 Watt LED which was £24 inc postage. Seems pretty bright and doesn't break the bank. Actually used it as a hand torch when camping this weekend.
