No DD for me this year, having given it some thought. Bit of a clash, tis all.
Best o' luck to anyone who's committed to the return leg, it's more fun than you'll think it is while you're riding it.

Oh my. I have just stumbled across a few typically poetic and humorous DunRun reports Barry Mason did back in the noughties.
It would appear that once he had it in mind to cycle back too:
"And of course, once we've packed them onto the coach, we cycle back to
London. Natch.
Bring your swimmie, it washes it all away, you're off to a new start. Clean
slate. Fresh bum." -

Have you read this topic Mr Zilci?
There were a long discussion on brakeless being feasible (which it is), and taking the fun out of the ride (which a handful of people claimed here).

riding the same as last year, just with a different handlebar set up this time. riding 68x16 was fine. don't want to ride my geared bike as i don't trust it will either a) come back or b) come back without any scratches.
plus last year a number of people weren't at smithfields to collect their bikes at the same time for one reason or another so a number were just left propped up against either the side of the lorry or nearby walls. i don't want that happening to my pride and joy...
I'm now seriously considering riding my touring bike instead of the fixed and having a bit more of a comfortable easy ride. This way I can carry a load of drinks and food etc. Plus I think it looks pretty dam cool.

^^ i was a part of that conversation, but i'm starting to think about riding my ssmtb instead, would be easier and most probably safer as it has brakez

Greetings folks,
Well with the ride coming up, I thought I would lift some stats of mine from last year. If you were wondering just how many times your pedals and legs might go round then this is for you.
So it is fixed gear maths club here...
One revolution of my cranks/ pedals will take me 228 inches along the road. There are 63,360 inches in a mile. 63,360 divided by 228 = 278 revolutions per mile 278 x 131.25 miles for the trip to Dunwich means my legs went round 36,487.50 times
Don't be put off or anything, just make sure you are well rested and you will be fine.
Peace and Love,
Tim -

Horns. Looks like a similar setup to mine.

Also, as OSR advised me. Electrical tape where the frame bag attached is a good idea too.

Finally onboard after a few years of thinking about it.
Joining the FCALIRTAB crew (if I may) safe in the knowledge that coach place is soundly booked.
I think i'll do the same

If you still need one there are more than likely to be some available on the night as not everyone turns up. Come and find us near the pub in the park, or if none left there, we may have some at the beach in the morning.
Thanks everyone.
Best wishes,
alex
