You kind of need a RTX 3090 to drive it though.
-
• #6978
Or a Titan X.
I've been looking at them.
You know.
For "work".

It's going to have a MBP and an Xbox as its too inputs. Wont actually be used for super wide gaming.

I love my 49 inches.... would happily recommend.

just trying to sort out thermals for my incoming CoolerMaster Nr200p ITX build
This is my proposed lay out for the fans etc. Given this, does it matter too much whether the CPU cooler is a tower type (dragging air from left to right?) or a flat, top down type?
Currently leaning towards a scythe big shuriken 3, which is the flat type.
-
• #6982
I'd usually expect the fan on the rear to be going the other direction. Reckon the CPU cooler will be fine.

nerd yourself out on this https://pcmonitors.info/articles/factors-affecting-pc-monitor-responsiveness/

also... personally I have had a 34" 3440x1440 monitor for almost 5 years and it's perfect. I don't understand why anyone would want a 49" panel with the same number of pixels as it doesn't increase your screen real-estate, will increase motion blur and has to be more likely to get accidentally damaged. Perhaps I'm missing something though
-
• #6985
Don’t the 49s have 5120 on the horizontal?
-
• #6986
5,120 x 1,440 though, no?
-
• #6987
Agree with that for general use. I'd only go for the larger screen at that res for the the sake of gaming.
@TW that's a 32:9 resolution rather than ultrawide which is 21:9.
-
• #6988
To be honest, I didn't realise there were ultrawide monitors with not-quite-ultrawide resolution. Which just seems daft.
-
• #6989
I don't think there are.
There are 1080p 49s which have a 3840 horizontal resolution. These are basically two 1080p monitors stuck together. And 1440p 49s which are 5120 horizontal so two 27" 1440p monitors stuck together.
-
• #6990
Ultrawide: 21:9 - 2560 x 1080, 3440 x 1440 etc.
Superwide: 32:9 - 3840 x 1080, 5120 x 1440
-
• #6991
34" 3440x1440 - 109 PPI
49" 5120x1440 - 108 PPII can see what you mean - must be devastating to lose that 1 PPI. Like looking through vaseline. :)
-
• #6992
Sorry, you're right. Just seen the links on the previous page, didn't realise it actually was superwide's being discussed. Much confusion, partly my fault :/
-
• #6993
You were looking at 5ms response times anyway - so it's like looking through vaseline at something that was broadcast last week.

Feel like I'm going bonkers here.
Building my itx mobo (B550I AORUS PRO AX) and trying to use the fan splitter that comes with the case (coolermaster nr200).
The single sysfan header on the board just doesn't seem the right size. Is it a problem with the board? The splitter? Me?!
-
• #6995
The single sysfan header on the board
The manual (https://download.gigabyte.com/FileList/Manual/mb_manual_b550i-aorus-pro-ax_e_1003.pdf - page 15) seems to show a "Fan power extension cable" that might have the right profile on the end of it.
-
• #6996
Yep, seems that way.
https://www.reddit.com/r/gigabyte/comments/koa63u/what_type_of_system_fan_is_this_in_the_b550i/
"
Just a regular 4-pin fan connector. There should be an adapter cable that comes with the motherboard that convert the "mini" connector to a regular size fan 4-pin connector.
" -
• #6997
OK, that makes sense.
Except
The adaptor doesn't fit either. What the fuckity fuck
edit: wrong adaptor - i think i have it now
-
• #6998
Yes, that's the "RGB LED Strip" extension cable (section 6 on p16).
You are in a maze of short extension cables, all similar.
-
• #6999
well blow me, I don't get how i missed that one. Last time I looked all the 49" panels were 3840 x 1080. I'm obviously getting senile in my old age.
If your desk is strong enough to support it why aren't you also considering the Samsung Odyssey G9? You should be able to drive it at 120Hz with a USB C to displayport cable
No USB C though, right?
