  • No i dont have you on ignore...

    Sheesh.

Cheers for the offer, but im trying to fix it myself and if i fuck it up then its my fault.

Start > Run > eventvwr > hit enter, Look for warnings and errors

Find out what video card you have and download the latest drivers from manufacturer.

Look for hardware conflicts in the Device Manager (right click My Computer)

Go to Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Action Center and see if there are any warnings

Give it to someone who can do this crap quickly.

  • recently I started having issues. I asked the question about correcting it on the Any questions thread but i think i need more detailed guidance.

My laptop is struggling to play movies both online and offline.
    It is a 64bit win 7; 2gig ram; Intel Core 2 CPU T7200@2GHz machine.

I was recommended that i upgrade the RAM and the OS. So far, Ive ordered the RAM (4gigs). but now I would like to move over to Linux OS like Ubuntu or Mint.

I have tried to understand what the fuck im supposed to do, but as im not IT I cant figure it out.

    Please can you help:-)

    Ubuntu's pretty easy nowadays.

I'd download 12.04 and follow the instructions for making a USB stick version here http://www.ubuntu.com/download/help/create-a-usb-stick-on-windows

Plug it in and boot your PC (you may need to change the boot order if it doesn't boot off the USB stick).

If everything works fine (particularly Wifi, screen resolution, battery meter, sound, printer, etc) then, from the Ubuntu desktop choose to install and it'll go onto your PC.

Download ccleaner http://www.piriform.com/CCLEANER run the registry cleaner. Clear any issues.

Download http://www.comodo.com/home/support-maintenance/system-utilities.php run the registry cleaner again.

  • Oh download spyware search and destroy, run that too. Also malwarebytes anti malware, run that too one at a time of course.

  • I'm after a sturdy laptop that can run solidworks and inventor, and isn't too porky for around 500-700 dorrah. This seems like a steal to me - any tips?

If it comes down to it, I would prefer good build quality to light weight. Sucker for a bit of aluminium.
