Hi Adrian. I'm all sorted now for groupset bits, but thanks anyway. Good luck with your sale.

In fairness it was probably September before I pulled the trigger. They say that good things come to those who wait :-)
Love those mudguards
Do you mean Alex Singer or Rene Herse?Nope, definitely Rene Singer. They are designed by Richard Sachs. Tom at Demon has ordered them directly from RS.

I stand corrected.
Richards Sachs seems to like hybrid naming.
His inspiration for the name would have come from those two constructeurs.
Can't wait to see it built. -

This is gonna make me very jealous. Liking everything about is so far, not least the green/SS scheme.

Hey
Looking good!finepics off this here forum had a nice demon built. One good thing he did was get a stainless demon logo instead of transfers, that was polished up and masked out of the paint. Pron!

Will be following this thread with interest ... which lugs are you having?
I have the stainless demon logo as well, definitely worth it, looks a treat.

Headset sorted:
Received the geo drawings from Tom this week too. Trying to temper my anticipation as Reynolds keep promising but not actually delivering the tubing for the stays. Hope it won't be too long before I'll have more than just the components to show y'all :-)

How long ago did he order the tubing?

They're called Rene Singer lugs. Designed/made by Richard Sachs (see previous posts above). Nothing like as fancy or impressive as yours, but I think they'll work nicely for the classic look I want.

Tom has been talking to me about his concerns about 953 being in short supply for months. I had my fitting/discussions with him in December and finally agreed a frame spec in Jan and I think he ordered the tubing shortly after (once he had a few other tubesets to order). He's confident that it'll be here soon. He has the main tubes, lugs and all braze ons etc, but still needs the stays so he can start. As I've said before, good things come to those who wait. :-)

I can show you more of the build kit, but you'll have to wait for the finished bike:
Stem, post and Record skewers:
Perch (Swift Ti):
Bit of a mix of 10 speed Campag. Chorus shifters (above), Daytona rear mech (works with a 13-29 cassette without the need for a long cage I'm told) and Centaur front mech:
Veloce compact chainset. Centaur is the highest 10 speed group now, but I wanted silver components for a classic look and Centaur doesn't come in silver, so Veloce wins out:

Is it a medium cage?

Is it a medium cage?
To my uncalibrated eye it looks short cage but I'm reliably informed it is designed to work with a 13-29 cassette.

Who's your reliable informant?

From the sprocketsuk website that I bought it from (see below). OK I don't trust everything I read online but this looks like the official Campag blerb to me:

I realise that the link is from their eBay site but I got it from their own website which had the same description. Fingers crossed it works without problems.

Work has begun...

So excited by this. Did a short 4 day tour of Northern France last year and absolutely loved it. I immediately knew that more tours would follow and my Planet X Kaffenback would have to step aside for something more "special".
I've always fancied a custom made all round bike i.e. racing geometry but with mudguard clearance and since the advent of stainless, 953 has been top of my want list. So why not add some rack eyelets so it can handle the sort of credit card touring I'd want to do as well?
After much soul searching and research I paid my deposit with Tom at Demon last summer and I've been collecting bits for the build ever since. It's getting close enough now to actually start a current project thread, so here goes:
I've put together a Campag 10 speed group with a mix of new and used parts. 50/34 Centaur Power Torque chainset in silver with a 13/29 cassette should see me up any climb fully loaded and hopefully will have the classic look I want. Here are some other bits and bobs for the build including my wheels (Chorus Hubs on Open Pro Ceramic rims):
Here is the current paint scheme, but it's a work in progress so may change yet.
All tubes will be stainless and even the Rene Singer lugs and all braze ons will be stainless too. I'm liking the look of 00921-00 green with orange lug lining and exposed stainless stays. I'm losing sleep thinking about it ;-)
