Jean is shorter than Brutus but taller than Imhotep. Imhotep is taller than Jean, but shorter than Lord Scotland. Lord Scotland is twice the height of Jean and Brutus combined but only one-tenth of the height of Millsy. Millsy is at a constant height of x − y. If Jean stands exactly one nautical mile away from Lord Scotland, how tall is Imhotep?

Imhotep is dead. Didn't you watch "The Mummy II"?

Giro Tech: Rise of the 25c tire
In the last year or so that thinking has begun to change. Here at the Giro, the 23c is in decline, replaced by its slightly fatter cousin, the 25c. Many of the teams already recognized for more progressive technological mindsets have begun using fatter 25c tires for regular road stages – no cobbles or gravel in sight, just smooth(ish) Italian tarmac.http://velonews.competitor.com/2012/05/news/giro-tech-rise-of-the-25c-tire_218011

That article hints at why I'm sticking with 23s for now:
i) My rims are 19mm on both my 'high mileage' bikes
ii) I'm 64kg
iii) I already run 'low' pressures without squirminess or snakebitiness (~85f, ~90r)
iv) I've got a small stock of 23s to get through that won't outlast the rimsSo until rim/wheel replacement time, 25s are not going to happen; apart from where they already are on my winter trainer, for ultra-cushiness and added rolling resistance.
-
• #297
surely you can bang out a 25 on a 19mm rim pretty easy???
-
• #298
^failing to understand the point
he has a supply of 23 tyres, and the big tyre on a narrow rim affords little advantage given his weight, and accurate control of tyre pressure
-
• #299
Ah the light weight thing. Didn't notice that...
The article was implying that a 25 tubular can be a bit unstable, so they use a wider rim. Presumably this is of less consequence on a clincher though? -
• #300
I was thinking, 10% wider isn't much really, but I forgot that you'll actually have about 20% more air in a 25mm tyre (Pi squared R).
I'd like to try like-for-like, so maybe my 23mm GP4000S tyres versus the wider equivalent.
