Lola - go to national rail journey planner. Switch to return journey for 4 poeple. choose correct dates 5-7th May. waterloo to Ryde Pier Head. Times dont matter so long as you pick an off-peak one - they're all transferrable anyway. Should bring up price of £164.80 total. Book. Get Aram and Raymund to Paypal you £41.20 each.
Bosh.Raymund - await notification from Lola for Payment for train and ferry.
You don't need to pay for tipis until we get there and it will be £16. - Lolabelle

For those wondering about hills, I did the island fixed this weekend on 42-16 and though the South East is pretty hilly, if you're willing to go for it then its OK. I'm not particularly fit at the moment and it really wasn't too bad, there is little in the way of really sustained grinding climbs. There are a couple of nasty inclines, particularly round Shanklin-Ventnor, but for the most part they are short and sharp and just need a burst of commitment.

Do we need to book ferry?
Lola pants. You seem to be under the misaprehension that I am:
a) the oracle (false)
b) in charge of this ride (false)From memory we did not book the ferry last time. We turned up at the terminal and paid for it then and there.
:)

Oh....:-)

I suggest that we meet at Waterloo around 11am in order to catch the 12pm train.
That will get us to Portsmouth at 13:33 and then we can be off the ferry on IoW a bit after 14:00.Then rally the troops for ride to Tipis, get set up, head to shop for provisions and get started on the beer while it's (hopefully) still warm and bright.
Or we could go a bit later. Not really fussed.

So can't wait for this trip!
Plus: Only just spotted that ferry is included in the train ticket/price! I feel a bit like an idiot. But this also strangely feels like a... win (as I though we have to spend more dollar)!
And no, we don't need to book ferry! -

I might drive... Return on the car ferry is circa. £100 which gives two options:
1.) 2 people in the car £50 each minus petrol... bikes, bags, beer, bbq in the boot.
2.) 3 people in the car £30 each minus petrol... but I would need to either buy or borrow a bike rack for a family hatchback. So if anyone knows of one for lends or sells, give me a shout.
NB: If I think you're a dick or a boring fuck, i'm not spending a couple of hours in a car with you.
