  • Didnt think of that ;)

  • I just dont get the mechanism where when people come across something hey havnt seen before evokes sentiments of danger and madness... Id rather be mad and dangerous then dull and scared...

  • Funny thing is when I look down the headtube I can see the ground :))

  • I just dont get the mechanism where when people come across something hey havnt seen before evokes sentiments of danger and madness

The famous examples of "mad dangeous" people being proven correct in the long term are only famous because they are the rare exceptions. Statistically, it's safer to assume that any radical novelty is the work of a lunatic, because lunatics outnumber maverick geniuses by about 1000000:1

  • How about doing the London Classic on it, I'm sure LFGSS riders would be happy to escort you over the cobbles.

    Andy

  • Not bothered with proof of wrong or right anymore, you can have your (creationist) believes and keep them, we know your stance by now.

  • Would certainly be a challenge Id like to take on :)
Its been fun riding this one on a regular basis and its been holding out fine. Can ride it no hands like regular bikes and havnt run into any issues yet..

  • Cool, look out for the booking details and arrange a meet time at the pub.

  • It has always amazed me how little attention there is for trail considering how much it determines a bike's riding characteristics.

What do you think bicycle manufacturer do? Just draw a frames on a discarded piece of paper and hope for the best?

Unless you mean you finally realised how important rake and trail are on a bicycle.

  • The almost endless options in adjusting have become the most attractive part of the project to me.

Or just learn basic geometry like normal people.

  • we know your stance by now

Some people might, you clearly still have no idea.

  • I was referring to cyclists in general, not manufacturers, but Im impressed with your knowlegde of my understandings Ed

  • Please elaborate... you seem to know more then I do

  • I think you should embrace the whole proof of concept thing more. The complete bike you built is technically both proficient and interesting, and you can be applauded for that, not many people would have thought of this, and even fewer would have followed it through as you have.

I've just spent a month building 2 lugged carbon bikes for children, an endeavour that has cost me all of my evenings, and an unpalatable amount of money, when I could have bought a pair of froggs second hand for 200 quid all in. This would easily pass testers stupid test, and I would wholeheartedly agree with him on this. It doesn't mean that the bikes aren't exactly what's needed to do the job, and I don't regret doing them for one minute. Let's not even get started on the whole shift by paint thing, it would probably be the case study in stupid ideas. However, as a proof of concept it was fine, and as a vehicle for promotion it was fantastic.

My point is, people aren't gunning at you personally, plenty of people have expresses admiration for the work you have done, and the time you have put in, but this is "the friendliest forum on the Internet". It can feel like the opposite if you stick your head above the parapet early on, but having been here for a while I would definitely agree with the sentiment, although not having tried every forum out there I wouldn't want to stand fully behind the statement!

  • you seem to know more then I do

Such as the difference between then and than

  • How have you worked out proper quoting? Also, low blow ;)

  • low blow ;)

Yes, but I'd quit this thread years ago when No_Forking_Clue proved that he was unwilling to engage with the arguments. Having been dragged back in by DJ, I'm operating on his level :-)

  • Leave it out bruv, it's not worth it mate etc....

I can see this on a headstone one day

  • Highlight a quote you like from a person's comment, then click on "reply" below the same comment and you should get a quote with > on it.

  • @coldharbour your kids' bikes are super slave though.

@No_Fork that's an idea to win the support of the forum :P Either make a rat bike, admit it's not going to progress beyond a 'joke' frankenbike for personal use. Or, bling p the current bike to some sort of HHSB potential.

  • @edscoble cheers, @Howard, mess around with the tenses and that was pretty accurate a week or so ago...

  • Being slave doesn't make it not a stupid idea!

  • Im impressed with your knowlegde of my understandings Ed.

I'm Deaf and Dumb, what does that make you?

  • i think it's interesting in its simplicity.

when i was a kid i replaced all the spokes on one of my wheels with rounds and rounds of fishing line. it didn't work.
