  • That's a fantastic-looking frame. I don't like Colnagos generally - look like style-over-substance most of the time but that looks awesome. I want one.

Yes, that's why they have such a terrible reputation.

  • Update - cheap Fizik, Deda seatpost which looks much better and it's cheaper than that Colnago branded FSA one, swapped stem from Deda to FSA/Colnago (might go for another Deda Quattro, but colour coded with the frame), Microshift stuff, carbon ergo bars (perfect feel, but not sure if suitable for the shifters when in drops; could've gone for 3T Ergosums from the forum). Swapped brake callipers for Campagnolo Centaur - no plastic parts.

Still needs a cassette and some decent cables. Might swap jockey wheels for ceramic or alu ones, because these here are appalling.

I've found those CK07 Colnago branded FSA cranks again on eBay, but not really sure what they can give me over those carbon ones apart from more white and red enamel.

  • those shifters look.....

  • ...colourful

  • as does the rear derailleur

  • I don't know... It looks kinda cheaper with those cranks and seatpost.

  • as does the rear derailleur

    You're.

Shifters are not bad. Surprised with the quality. At least they don't have the smaller lever on the inside like Sora.

  • Have you ridden it yet?

  • matchy matchy!!

  • Have you ridden it yet?

I have. From the kitchen to the front room. While holding onto a radiator.

  • matchy matchy!!

    I also have matching socks.

I do that all the time!

    Microshift, here's road.cc take on it;

    http://road.cc/content/review/14420-microshift-arsis-carbon-10spd-groupset

going to get this one for the Genesis in order to get a wider range of gear (11-32)

  • I've seen that stuff before ed, and its quite tasteful, it was more in reference to the colour choice kris had made.

  • I've just put Microshift stuff onto my mountain bike, and the mech appears better than the shifters, so would be interested to see if this is the same for road stuff.

  • some of the review said that the shifters are the weak point of the system (the MTB one), the recommendation is to pair with a Deore shifter or better for good shifting.

  • Yeah that was my eventual plan - the rear mech in particular feels really good quality - but guess time will tell.

  • I want to upgrade to Campagnolo stuff at some point, so don't care much.
I paid less than for a second hand Shimano 105.

I want it to be an over the top tasteless medallion-on-a-hairy-chest Italian biek...

  • is it 10 speed?

I reckon that in the future if you were to upgrade, you can easily put an 105 shifter and be happy as a pig in muck.

Keep hunting for a decent 105 shifter and I think you're onto a winner.

  • Or Ultegra :-)

  • I think you just need...

  • Or I can strip it, no?

  • I was thinking more for the parts than the frame....

  • You could always Polish the frame....
