They should have suggested this before the ride. Would have been more Dutch

Perhaps LCC should do a hi viz and helmet free day.
Now that would do a lot for cycle safety. Drivers and riders would look out much more -

I did not like LCC's plan to dive straight to a Dutch campaign however I did recognised that if the LCC'S carry on its original course. It would take even longer for cycling to be considered normal.
Personally a careful balance of Dutch style infrastructure and the UK style of sharing the road would be more effective, especially when we may not have any idea what the next PM will be like in the next 10 years.
This is generally my feeling toward the campaign.

Sorry for poining out the obvious, but we are not in Amsterdam.
Yes, we can learn from the Dutch, but we need a London soloution and not one for just Zones 1 -3.
For example , come and visit Ilford with me ; its as flat as Holland , has a traffic problem but almost bike free. However, I don't think " Go Dutch " is the answer to the question; why do people in Ilford not ride a bike to work, school or to the shops?.
I suspect the new Halfords in the town centre may have more of an effect on cycling than Go Dutch or last year's Sky Ride.

Or a simple case of installing more Sheffield stand in town centres.

Did anyone else see the motorbike cop giving some family a telling off for jumping a red on the way to the start? About half way down park lane... I had some sympathy as it seemed to be a closed road.
Pretty heavy handed it seemed to me.

Great photos ZC ^^
A few grimaced faces (mine included).
Seeing so many familiar peeps in these makes me realise how big the event was - I didn't cross paths with half of those I knew.

yes, he was a jumped up prick, like too many of the motorbike police… I saw him do the same to a girl and told him to stop picking on people… this was right near the exit from the park on the closed road.
He then moaned about having to be there on his day off blah blah… think he thought he was policing a football crowd not a load of quiet, well behaved people protesting getting killed for trying to use an efficient and non polluting way to get around.
Great to see everyone, pics up soon (not sure where yet).
Part of the brief I got was at one point they were hoping to get everyone to take off their hi-viz and helmets for a photo. Of course this was never going to happen, but the idea was there.
