oh dear, you forgot to 'in Manchester' on your thread title...
-
• #3
it's in the manchester thread but I'll let you add: 'in the forest woo yay' since you're going :)
-
• #4
heh!
-
• #5
But seriously who looks at what subforum each thread is in?

I got told off by some nodder for precisely that FFS

I was considering trying asking a few pubs in chorlton if they'd put it on. Maybe if we hit the same ones seperately we can make it seem like lots of people care? If you do find anywhere give me a shout

mole frittes
Mexican fried chocolate?
-

Post which bars you want targeting, we'll get on it like a rash!

I've only just moved here, and don't really watch regular sports. Where has TV's and real ale? Horse and jockey? Bowling green? I'm prepared to hit a few on sunday.

Bikes tend to be parked up outside the Nook and the other couple of bars there. Not sure if any of them have a TV though. Electric has a big screen and so does Dulcima just a little further down.

Manchester needs a lmnh type of place. Fact.

Black Lion, we are working on it as a bikey place. It's a very nice drinky place. Lock ins after meeting us twice, and we're polistas.

Start one.

Start one.
Seriously! I've been dreaming of one before I even heard of LMNH.

there used to be a similar joint in Bristol owned by a friend who now runs a coffee shop and restaurant in The City. Do it.

A bike cafe would be cool. I've heard a couple of well known bike people in Mcr talk about doing it before now but nothing ever came of it. Part of the problem is that Eurosport is a subscription service. While not to bad for a domestic subscription they charge a lot more for commercial use in pubs and the like. While you can risk it the fines if they catch you are harsh. I'm not sure if there would be enough people to cover the cost for events. A general cafe might work but it would be a brave person to take the risk in the current climate.

It is colder than the last few days have been.

Is anyone up for actually starting one? There's a potential empty unit just down the way from me in chorlton. I have previous bar supervisor experience, though i'd know little about the costs etc involved.
-

I'd be well up for it, no capital tho. coffeefix once said to me they were originally looking in and around Chorlton but chose Gatley as the rents were so much lower.
Chorlton, nice but pricey?
-
• #21
That's why we now have two Chorlton cafes that have moved to Levenshulme. Barbican bread shipped daily to POD and Trove employing a Chorlton baker from what I hear.
-
• #22
^ Barbican also supply Coffeefix.
The bakery is well established with high turnover, a startup cafe is a much riskier prospect. That said, both teahive and the sweettooth cupcakery seem to be doing ok.

I've heard rumours of rent free units in chorlton. Mind you those lovely shiney coffee machines cost as much as a new dogma, and i dont think you'd get far serving instant

www.popupbikes.co.uk/ could be similar to LMNH, hope to check out this week...

That place sounds cool.
Anyone now of any decent central/south pubs to watch the race? thinking somewhere that sells leffe and mole frittes if poss!
I\m in the area to watch with a belgian friend but don't know manchester and he's not part of 'the scene' as it were.
