  • ^yay!!

  • ^yay!!

    Yay is right.

Ride is ON, lo-pro or not, all welcome. Fancy dress if you fancy, but not obligatory.

12 noon start, and I will post full itinerary tonight when back from work.

So Poots, you still on for taking mental Red for a Poole around London's famous London?

  • Awesome work Bernie! Looking forward to it now, Haven't actually seen that many other lo-pro riders down here in SE lately but when I'm in town later, any I do see, I'll have a word in their shell like and try and get some numbers up (if they come out in the drizzle that is!)

  • i'll provisionally put my name down but i am a bed wetter when it comes to riding my nice bikes in the rain !

    whats the course ?
and where do i find one of these ?

  • I'm down as well, but only for a half hour on my lunch break

    Someone bring a camera?

  • OK you good people, the ride is on, and all are welcome.

Meet 12 noon, for 12:30 depart, from Pret a Manger, 18 Hanover Street, W1S 1YN. The reason for this start point, is that there is some space outside to congregate, and maybe have a coffee with friends old and new.

Head north, to Oxford Circus, left Oxford Street, left Park Lane, left into Piccadilly, to Piccadilly Circus, through Leicester Square past the **Hippodrome, **then up to Cambridge Circus.

Head to Holborn, A40 to St. Pauls, Leadenhall Street, past **Lloyds of London, **Algate East, A13 to Limehouse, Canary Warf and your choice of Barclays, HSBC or Citi Group.

Back on A13 to Canning Town, head north up Manor Road, onto West Ham Lane, **"Cos I'm forever blowing bubbles," **close, but not too close to Olympic Village, an early supper/coffee stop, before taking the A11 back to central London.

If anyone knows a novelty shop in the West End where we can load up with neon wigs and bowler hats, pray tell, and we can add to itinery.

I am trying to persuade Bothwell to come along and apply the face paint for anyone who is interested, and hope to be able to get a limited addition spoke card sorted in time for our event.

Spread the word folks. These events always turn out to be a hoot, and it is apprecaited when there is a decent turn out.

  • Oxford St/Park La/Piccadilly seems like a long and unpleasant way to get from Oxford Circus to Piccadilly Circus when you could just go straight down Regent St, passing Hamleys

Especially as Park La might be thick with Olympic traffic/security for the Triathlon

Thanks mister, will certainly consider suggested modification.

May ride up via Park Lane, as one of the side ideas is to get close to some of the Olympic action and "soak up the atmosphere," so to speak.

No chance of you joining us on one of your fine examples of the breed?

I'm in two minds about it, might be racing on Saturday morning.

  • ^You can race any week, but it's only this week you can come on this ride

Normally I'd say the Park Lane route sounds good as it's fun to blast down at great speed but it's been horrible recently with the Olympic stuff, might be worth checking before the ride starts.

  • Here's a quick and dirty gpx* which goes
    Hanover St
    Park La (short northbound section)
    Oxford Circus
    Piccadilly Circus
    Cambridge Circus
    St Giles Circus
    Percy Circus
    Holborn Circus
    Circus Space
    Finsbury Circus
    Westferry Circus

*I had to change the extension to .txt to upload it, change it back to .gpx to use it.

  • ^You can race any week,

Saturday is my last chance this year to ride on the H10/2, so that's not strictly true.

Thanks so much for the route. Would be good if you can make it out.

I will ride up via Park Lane, to see how busy it is. Would be an experience to go by if not a complete nightmare.

Can one of you techno lads, load up the route for us?

Spoke cards ordered, will be with me by close of business tomorrow.

  • awesome!
let me know cost, I'll buy ya a beer or give you a couple a quid ;)

  • Good work Bernie, same as above re Spoke Cards, mentioned it to a few other folks who aren't specifically lo-pro riders but are clowns. (not professionally!) So they may join us too....
Luckily I went to a "Dads BBQ shirt" themed bbq party last weekend and the shirt is suitably garish and ridiculous to be worthy of this ride.
    This will be funz!!

  • charity shop for my costume.... you never know what you might find!

Looks good, I wanted to suggest Percy Circus particularly as I quite like it

Top man. You get yours for free, as you did the design, but I usually use it as a way to raise some funds for the upkeep of the forum or a charity of Velocio's choice.

We can discuss over a clown-achino Saturday noon time.

  • I may, repeat MAY, come along. I have no lo-pro and I'm going to Exmouth in the evening, but it'd be nice to see you all...

Mental Red is sobbing in my garage, having been told that her two dates for the prom have better things to do.

Could you be persuaded to rescue a damsel in distress?

  • Wow, I had forgotten what a fine figure of a man you are.

Are you bringing any C...lown... stickers with you, this time?

Hmm, my sensible side says no. My heart says YES! Ye gods.

  • I would love to take Mental Red out but I wouldn't be able to make it to Norwood on time before the start. As everybody knows, you can't keep a lady waiting. Hats, you should definitely go for it.
