• Alu forks look heavy and stiff, why not get some nice carbonz?

Either new or old. I got these Time's...

The straight blade ones are really nice (nicer in my opinion, but hard to find with huge steerer like I needed) as well.

  • Something similar to these would look great...

  • ************ JUNE 2013 UPDATE ************

My brother keeps complaining that the frame feels too big (54cm)for him and is, apparently 'far too heavy compared to his mates' bikes' so...

I got him a new old stock 2006/07 HED full carbon frame in 50cm ST / 52cm TT.

Here are some pictures of the frame. I won't start a new thread as i'll be transferring the components across.

It is seriously light at 1445gr for frame+forks

  • All components now transferred.

The MBK Mirage Pro frameset has been dibsed and should be picked up this week.

Long live the HED R1C and its epic stacker of spacers!

  • Hi vince,

Couple of days ago I stumbled upon an identical bike, I bought it in heart beat since it looks great and didnt have any rust or troubles. But i stumbled upon a problem when started disassembling which is the screw that fixes the seat height.

is it supposed to be threaded all the way the opening to adjust the seat? or just at the end? since here it seems like there some serious miss usage where the threads are all gone.

Thanks in advance for your reply

  • @user56140 I believe that the grub screw is threaded all the way.

    Ghetto fix:
If the threads are gone, just buy a larger diametre grub screw an force it in.
A bag of mixed grub screw go for about £4 on eBay.

    Proper fix:
Get a bike shop to re-thread the grub screw hole - it should not cost more than £25 including the new grub screw.

    Rich Man fix:
Buy a quill seatpost of the right diameter. Hard to find and £££.

    I hope this helps!

    Cheers

    Vince
