Another fucking massive beetle. This one a rhinoceros beetle of some variety (doesn’t take a genius to figure that out). Didn’t manage to give this one the finger for scale, but larger than the last one, probs about 10 - 12cm or something.
Also saw a massive centipede, maybe about 20 or so cm in length, but that fucker was not for hanging about for photos.

Popped up on the beeb, some lovely photos.
My addition is this flying set of scissors (who was actually pretty chill).

A couple of recent shots... Came across a cockchafer stuck on its back, and after a few attempts, managed to get it to stay right way up. A nice cinnabar moth catapillar, and a couple of dragonflies.

Thanks! It seemed determined to lie on its back, flailing legs, carapace and wings. My wife turned it right side up about four times before it seemed to accept that it was better off that way.

Nice. I love a plume moth, they're v sci fi looking. I mean, most insects are sci fi looking when you get in close, but like plume moths have more of a spacecraft aesthetic rather than a monster aesthetic.

I thought at first that the handlebars were the wings, before sense dawned. I wonder what the evolutionary advantage of mahoosive eyebrows is...

Is there any chance of identifying the wasp(?) responsible for this small, single layer nest found in a (distant) neighbours outhouse?
