Reading the Dope thread on the lfgss.com.

tyre pressure
That's definitely my close second. Especially getting away from any autistic desire to always have them at the same pressure (I don't mean as each other).
@andyp - a cyclefit is a little more grandiose than I was suggesting in the OP. So is 'taking fitness more seriously' (@dammit).

A while ago I joined a ride where I met a guy who taught me a lot of nice things, later when I started to be almost acknowledged the fucker became a snobbish cunt, so now the only way to enjoy the improvement is to kick his ass.
That sounds most unfortunate. Some people, eh.

Yeah, but I will not give up, I will be firm with hope.

Decent shoes! No more foot cramp from soft worn out mtb spd shoes.

That moment when you realise that even the shittiest, pissiest, most horrible day on the bike is still a million times better than being stuck in a sweaty tube or bus.
I remember that moment. It was on Commercial Rd heading to work and I was laughing like a fucking maniac.

Riding more. Marked change in mood and fitness = smiles all round.
-
• #43
Riding more is a big issue. Sorry.
-
• #44
It's a small change though. Going from riding less to riding more involves riding. Nothing drastic.

Trusting my saddle fore-aft position - it looks a lot further back than most other people's that I've seen, and I feel like I drop my heel more through the pedal stroke than others do. But it eliminated the calf cramp I was getting, so it was super valuable. Meant I could do much longer rides in comfort.

... And then, stem length (echoing Ms Bendix).

It involves time. Things don't get much bigger than that.

I have a horrible feeling this thread is about to go all space-time.
Saddle width... its a big deal.
