Also, why are NAH not a part of this?
-
• #3179
Well, Sean wanted the freedom to do what he wanted, and implement his vision, without having to answer to a whole continent of players.
But the people who make up the NAH are part of it, Joe and I are going to be there, and Ben and others support the concept. We've all been consulted as part of his planning.

As "professional bike polo", should I compare this with "pro wrestling"?
I note a Director is listed.

Now people will be bitching about insufficient time to save up for the real WHBPC2016, only 7 months (probably) after WHBPC"2015".

• #3187
that's bullshit

Why the change in format? 5 person squad and 30 minutes isn't representative of how anyone currently plays. This sounds like a showcase rather than a 'Professional' tournament. Who is it aimed at, players or sponsors?
It sounds like an interesting project none the less.

A single tourney with a cash prize does not a professional sport make! Also, no streaming definitely sounds pro!
Have to agree with the lols on this one.

321polo.net/2015/01/pro-bike-polo-is-born-broadcast-pilot-under-way/#more-2115 for everyone who hasn't seen it yet.
"Fixcraft is producing a 6 team, single elimination tournament indoors at the Kansas Expocentre in Topeka Kansas"
"Saturday the 31st round robin matches start at 9:00am and run till 8:00pm. Main event is Sunday the 1st at 9:00 am to 3:00 pm."
H-Bomb can you explain this format please? Everyone plays each other? Then they play each other again? If the games are only 30 mins, what is the rest of the time going to be filled up with...?

Lots of questions (and I should emphasise this isn't my project, I'm just responding for Sean, based on conversations we've had).
In short, this is absolutely aimed at sponsors, and mainstream media, not other polo players (hence streaming not being a priority).
5vs5 is something the top players in NA are pushing for. We've had a few tournaments of that format already, and if it works out, it probably replace 3vs3 sooner rather than later, at the top level.
Kev, the format isn't about having a game on every minute of the day (like most tournaments). It's about being able to record the best games.
Pundit? Sure, not sure I'll be allowed on the mic, but if I am, I'll do my best ;)

Enough about that, Let talk about the fact the worlds is gonna be in January next year now...When did that happen?
Well, they always said it could be Nov-Jan. NAH asked for it to be Jan, as it works better for us.
But also, in Montpellier the NAH an EHPA reps agreed an 18 month cycle would work best (so the next worlds would be summer 2017)

they don't want your sort
I really hope that this works out and achieves all that it aspires to.
But I have to admit the labeling of 'Professional' right now is pretty laughable.
Really glad to see a movement towards longer games and single elimination.
Who will be reffing the tournament?
