I believe it's intended use would be super-sonic flight only.

Its all about hyper sonics now.
You can only fire up scram jets at Mach 6:

For a moment I just read that as 'hipster sonics'.

Time for some Italian plane Pron.
Macchi MC.72. Still the fastest piston engined seaplane ever made. (1934)

Never heard of these. How did they race? I guess over the water, but no idea how.

I fucking hate the noise of chinooks...remember friends and relatives coming back from the Falklands
My former next door neighbour came back from the Falklands full of grenade splinters. To him the Wokka is the sound of rescue on its way.
When my grandfather was manning one of these in Hammersmith, I suppose he was pretty scared for all sorts of reasons, but not far up the road the girl who would go on to marry his young son knew that the crack of 3.7" going up made it less likely that another V1 would land near her house.
None of which is really relevant to an interest in aviation technology, but if you're constantly going to insist on filling the thread with discussion of the end purpose of military technology, it's as well to remember that there are two sides in every conflict, and therefore a multiplicity of emotional responses to the memory of the equipment in action. That's why crowds cheer the Lancaster of the Battle of Britain Flight - not in celebration of the horror Lancaster squadrons visited on German cities, but in gratitude for their own deliverance from a similar fate thanks to the efforts of Bomber Command.

That caspian sea monster is fucking scary. It looks like the abandoned spaceship from the beginning of Alien, but meaner.
Stealth tank transporter that goes 250mph across water and has missile launchers all over it... fuck me running.
The soviets blatantly had sharks with fricking lasers on their heads too.
-
• #468
out of radar contact and apparenty use less fuel too.
-
• #469
How could that launch into space?
1.) It's stuck in WIG mode (transporter)
2.) Jet does not have extra fuel capacity
Edit. I did not realise that piggyback module had 2 stages.

I have struggled to understand the handwringing regarding this thread. It was supposed to just be a thread which connected this mainly-male forum, to pleasant days and daydreams. Many of us had toy jets, whether military, or civilian, and it didn't make us the worse for it.
Some of us (you may recognise yourself here), would run around with friends, making NNNNEEEEEEOOOOOWWWWW noises, and holding our arms out from our bodies, like wings. This was normal. Just like having the odd fight, and making up, and still being mates years and years later. Liking military jets then, did no harm. Not to anyone.
Growing up later, one may have looked at jets differently, and appreciated the design, the power, and the engineering. I don't think even one person on this thread, or taking part in this forum, likes jets when they are used for killing. Yes, its what they are designed for, military action, but like tanks, you hope they are not used for that.
I will always like Concorde, and for the exactly same reason that I admire the Sukhoi Su-27 Flanker. Its simply a beautiful, powerful, fast plane. I don't think of the machine guns, etc, etc, etc. Its just the look of it.

I agree.
It's Soviet!
They had eerie powers.
