  • I am confused. She bought a fridge recently, I mean. I recall it being traumatic but ultimately successful.

  • I'm going back to bed now.

  • I'm going back to bed now.

no sure if euph or serious...

  • sorry. It's going to be a LONG day.

  • I geared up for tonight's ride because I thought it would be fun to push a big gear again after spending the last few months spinning, but it almost broke me on the commute so now I'm a little scared.

  • if your rear light is very very very bright can you please think about making it not so bright.

    electricians tape is great.
    masking tape is good.
    paper sellotaped on works.

it truly is shit riding behind blinding rear lights.

thank you kindly for your time.

  • Tom, it's going to be a slightly more genteel pace than last time. Trying not to string it out as we did last time and I can only muster about 15mph average on my old girl. Take the spinner!

  • Too late, Ben. I'm at work now and there's no time to swap my wheels back :(
(yes I swap wheels not sprockets. hush.)

  • Hmmm. I have a strange tweaked muscle or something in the back of my knee. Felt it on the way home last night and again this morning. Little worrying but I'm hoping that a longish ride at a steady pace will loosen it up. If it all goes pear shaped I'll give a shout before I slip off the back, I know my way home so that at least won't be a worry.

What Ben said. What does 'geared up' mean? What de time ya have deh, dread. WTF.

I cannot echo this comment enough (unless I copied and pasted it ad infinitum).

  • I want to retreat to the comfort of 80rpm at cruising speed instead of 100. That's what it means. So everything feels slow and sedate. Instead, it just feels like treacle but I've backed myself into a corner and I don't have time to rectify it.

  • I think he is worried that you will have a choice of gears. Reassure him that you only intend to use one.

  • I have only one, and it is too high. The patois has confused me.

  • I have this rear light, I don't think it's too bright.

Can somebody shout at me if it is, and I'll rectify.

  • I have only one, and it is too high.

    Is it 85"?

  • @6pt: I know what you mean. My grandfather used to have his crazy-paved, and I thought it was mental.

  • I'll get my coat.

  • I'll be running 46/18 for my first TNRC and hoping I can keep up, and will be applying some sort of cover to my exposure flare, as it's pretty bright.

  • ^ ride at the back with Des n James, bright rears at the rear :)

I'm off to shoreditch now for a meeting, so offline. See y'all at the station.

  • I guessed it was one gear. If it is 85", that's more like 70rpm for flat ground TNRC cruising.

  • I hear tricity bendix is good to talk to about fridges.

whatever you do, don't buy a tricity bendix one. That toaster I was so proud of keeps tripping my house. Shoddy workmanship in a bendix.

  • I'll be riding at the back anyway, so suits me just fine :)

  • Wussin' out

1+ if all else fail, point the light down at the tarmac.

  • If a rear light is on the bright side, please turn it to steady glare rather than flash. That actually reduces the dazzle effect.
