  • Sorry for bailing. Turned out to be the right decision. Chest got worse. Watch out for the platform at Effingham Junction it is quite slippy owing to piles of mucus. Still managed 25.5 miles do not a bad night out. (took a longer flatter route back).

  • That was awesome! My first TNRC and even more fun than I'd hoped. Glad I came fixed too.

    Cheers all

  • Bing. Inaugural 'fast and loose' TNRC complete. Hopefully normal (slightly
more controlled) service shall resume from here on in.

Still great ride and enough time for a guinness. Not too shabby.

  • well done lads

  • benjam - thanks again for staying with me with when I bottled the descent into Dorking after my light played up.

    Great ride all round.

  • Ouch. I struggled to keep up with you cunts.
Great ride though. Good to see so many on fixed.

Thanks for the Guinesses David and Steve. I owe you both one.

I have to be up in 5 hours! Night night x

  • It was nice weather, I thought.

  • Good fun. Packed day for me tomorrow, so night night also, once I've downed this medicinal brandy.

  • Yep, it seemed to warm up. But maybe that was just me. I also heard some owls near the start. I think they were telling the badgers to hold off for the night. Good stuff, thanks all.

  • Great night - I enjoyed that lots. Seemed to have all the classic tnrc elements; hills, good company, perfect weather and three different rides going on that all finished in the pub at about the same time. What's not to like? Bad luck Chris, wondered why we didn't see you on the way back. Cheers for the pint dumps. Next list in about a week.

  • Yep, it seemed to warm up.
might have been something to do with the riding up massive hills and then spinning down the other side of them.

    cheers for that tenner :)

  • 2 x Guinness
    1 x tenner

Not a bad night's work Joe!

  • Good to see some familiar faces. Was very glad to find Des and Bruce after my lighting malfunction. Not sure I would have made it the "wrong" way up Whitedown otherwise!

  • 2 x Guinness
    1 x tenner

Not a bad night's work Joe!
and i got to ride my bicycle round the surrey hills to boot!

  • Were the train 2 people happy enough with the tempo from the station to the rendez-vous point (aside from the final drag where I rode closer to threshold)? I'd hope it was perfect for some, and a touch too slow/fast for others. Good to get some feedback before perhaps volunteering to lead out the whole peleton for the first half of any future rides. Thanks.

  • I thought it was fine, but not sure how much that counts for.

  • Fine with me.

  • i was dropped on both the climbs (but regrouping was handled well). other than that it was good for me (could have been a tad quicker on the flatter bits in places)

  • i was dropped on both the climbs

^ 5 Hills: surely this means you weren't dropped on three?

    .

  • ah. i c.

  • Pissed I missed this.

  • Well that sounds about right then. Business-like, inclusive, and flowing - that's what I'm aiming for (with the first only applying to catch-up groups).

  • I thought it was fine, but not sure how much that counts for.

    How's your knee this morning?

Oh look, my first TNRC gps recording. How very cutting edge of me.
