I know its off topic, but i have a Mercian frame pretty much just like that(1957), in pearlescent aquamarine in mint condition. Any one got an idea what it might be worth, was thinking of flogging it.

I did end up putting bearings and axle from a 3 piece set of cranks in there which was just enough to put your feet on without adding too much weight or body breaking sticky out parts for when you deck it.

deadline, a month before everything has to be sent to the editors of the book????

May not be my place to say, but I thnk a mix of LFGSS-esque bikes would be best. Trying to cover all tastes.

Few vintage fixed
Few low-pros with risers
Few modern track monsters
etc.

I was going to say if its for the book use current rides and get fred or ben to shoot them in a studio or somewhere pretty, would make for better photos for the book.
