Good point, I'll come down early for the beginners practice, I think Salman said he would too, I'm assuming Neil will be but we'll wait for him to stick his name down, anyone else turning up early?

Is anyone planning on buying any pipe off Adam and Ste? I'll bring along a little in my bag if so, maybe get listing.
-
• #256
I'm after some pipe, probably ~50cm would do me nicely as that should be enough for 3 heads with wastage from cutting.
-
• #257
Yeah, 15cm pour moi
-
• #258
Actually I was going to ask, what are the regs on head size? 120-130mm seems to be most common.
-
• #259
We were planning on selling the pipe @ £5 per metre, should be enough for 7 heads or thereabouts..... plus its light enough to not need much drilling out for weight

No regs on heads size AFAIK, but yeah 120-30 is most common..

Here's a drilling template i use when making mallets, i normally print these on paper and spray mount onto the pipe and use to mark the centres of the holes to makes sure everything is at right angles.
Edit as necessary
Oh, make sure when you print it Acrobat doesnt "scale to fit page" as it'll come out too small

I would like to not be transporting meters of the stuff. If people want to buy a meter then list up, I'll cut off 150mm for now until they either pick up the rest or we move the stuff in a car for easier delivery. Sound fair?

The great pipe list...

what the hell, i've got loads of walking poles screaming to become mallets. i'll take the other half. i can also collect.
rob don't worry about the 150cm unless you already cut it.

Otter, I might well pop over and collect it pre polo tomorrow if that's ok with you....?
-
• #266
Yeah, if you come round at about 1215 you, Chris and I can probably manage the lot on the way to beginners polo. Won't be comfortable, but doable.

Sorry 1200 will be better

Alright then, I've got a lovely shiny *straight** fork with bosses for brakes so I can stop.
Bling. (thanks for all the help Rob)
One this was fitted I noticed there is some stencilling on the rim that spills over onto the braking surface :( I've not got ahold of Neil to see if he's bothered but I'm presuming he'd rather it wasn't worn off, so ultrablag coming:
has anyone a 700C front wheel I can borrow for the tourney so I can use these bloody forks and brakes I've bought? I can't afford to buy anything else (and go to Bristol, at least) but obviously I would pay in full in the event of it being damaged. I'll pay rent of a few beers or whatever.
Also I need to mod a brake lever - I don't know that Neil would be happy to have his drilled so if anyone could bring spare lever tomorrow and I'll buy that if it's needed. I was hoping to have the bike set up as it will be for Bristol so I can get a wee bit of practise on it...
*actually the old fork was straight tubed, this one is curved but not bent.

• #269
sure, i'll bring a front wheel.
-
• #270
I'll sort out Drew's lever this week and you can use my spare one until either someone else buys it or you do.
-
• #271
i'll bring a couple of levers that might be suitable, maybe drop me a text to remind me though....

I figured if it was cut into 10x Metre lengths i could fit it all in my rolltop bag....
-
• #273
it's in 5 pieces, 1 is slightly longer than the others
-
• #274
I can cut more if needed.

Might make life easy to cut two 50cm bits for me then. I can pick them up, drop one at mine and cart the other one down to polo for Salman.
I've also been looking at fixtures for mounting the head...

http://www.screwfix.com/p/joint-connector-bolts-m6-x-35-bzp-pack-of-50/87106With ~10mm OD shaft tube the cross dowel should fit nicely, could even run a couple of them through the shaft to really clamp things in. For 50 of each collected it's £6.34. If people think it would work and are interested in splitting the order then let me know.
