  • Don't want to make you feel like that man. I think the reason it seems cramped to me is partly the sizing of text and things as well, and I know it's difficult having 2 people sort things out from different places. Stuff I'm suggesting is just that, suggestions.

  • I think the reason it seems cramped to me is partly the sizing of text and things as well

do you mean on the worpress site i made or the current site?

as a comparison i dont think the original site is cramped i think its airy and easy to read

    heres the worpress site:

    heres the current site:

  • Everything I'm saying is about the current site, and I realise a lot of that's due to stuff just not being coded in as yet. If I'm making suggestions it's just a kind of list to work though when the time is available, and most of that stuff isn't being done by you. It's meant to all be constructive but that's not always obvious on t'interwebz.

  • yes but you have every one commenting on it, you and salman are saying use a full header image, chan thinks its displaying wrong, all based on an unfinished site that is way off the actual design it shouldnt have gone live and everything i have said on the site suggestions page was ignored anyway, I have had enough of spending my time on this or stressing about it anymore. get one person to design it, 1 person to build it not 10 people all chipping in

  • Sorry if I sounded picky Ste/Em! For what it's worth I think the site looks nice as it is now.

I think all of the functionality is already there. It looks good so lets not spend too much time bike shedding.

    More polo!

  • OK, I thought a suggestions page would be useful, kinda like this one has been on here. I know things ain't finished and have been pushed open while it's not 100% I was hoping a kind of todo list would speed things up a bit, but they are just suggestions and feedback and not orders for work that must be completed. We needed something up to point people to and the front couple of pages achieve that, it just needs polish and tweaking to make it look like it should. We should also really move all this over there.

  • it shouldnt have gone live and everything i have said on the site suggestions page was ignored anyway

    Oh thank you.

Sadly, I like to actually do stuff like playing polo when I'm not working and last week I decided helping with the launch party was more important.

Sure, you could wait until it's absolutely perfect, but then we probably wouldn't have a site until June. Call it a beta test and stop moaning.

    is that not true though?
you chose to completely rebuild it in drupal and create a load of work for yourself. if your calling it a "beta test" it shouldnt be live then

  • yes but you have every one commenting on it, you and salman are saying use a full header image, chan thinks its displaying wrong

Ste, really didn't mean to open a can of worms here. I appreciate all the work both you and em have done on this.

all based on an unfinished site

This is the key quote though, I just didn't know if it was finished. That's all I wanted to know. Also my comment was aimed towards em so please dont take offence.

Re. Bike Shedding - love that! It's all about Parkinson's Laws of Triviality from here on in...

FTR - not commented on the website/forum as I agree with Ste - the management of the process doesn't seem appropriate for the task at hand. As far as the Steering Group is concerned, the task falls under Rob's Information remit and through that we asked Ste to lead on design with Em to lead on the IT/build aspect. Those are the three that ought to continue the project to they are mutually satisfied and only then canvas others for tweaks/ideas/content from the rest of the group and then only for consideration.

I appreciate the decision to try and get something 'live' in time for the launch - I don't see that as a bad thing inherently, nor do I see it in it's unfinished state as being 'bad for business' as long as we don't lose faith or heart in continuing to develop it until most are happy.

Please don't fall out about it people - we're making good collective progress in so many ways, so remain positive and actually find time to talk face-to-face rather than over these tainted channels!

  • I got an email from Emma yesterday. Will sign up for the new site when I get real Internet

  • Go team!

  • Not gonna make polo tonight, knee is still funny and forgot I said I'd help out at pedal MCR tool club thingy, might swing by after that for a beer maybe.

  • Going to be a bit late

  • Chan/Em/Neil - We've booked the court for 11am-2pm next saturday. I hope this fits in nicely with you. It sounds like some of the Brummies might make it to Bristol for friday.

  • Talk to Rich, I was told tonight they couldn't have Campus on the 13th, so delayed to the 20th ARGH!

  • Oh, right. We kinda need a bit of notice. I'll speak to Paul tomorrow, see if he can change the date

  • I'm coming whenever Neil and Chan say so!

  • Such dedication...

  • We're just waiting on Chan's shifts - will know in the morning.

  • Enjoyed last night, thanks for the bikes and mallets!

Chan: how much for the mallet bits? will be down on Thursday

  • i'll bring everything i've got and we can sort it then, about £10 per mallet..

  • Cool, thanks, will bring some cash on Thursday
