  • Haha, what Woody said. Enjoy your travels Colin.

  • This site is selling the balls we need. There are two types: orange for below 70F, red for above.

    http://www.hockeyoffice.com/shop/shop1prodview_iISHDB.html
    http://www.hockeyoffice.com/shop/shop1prodview_iSC75051.html

The order has to be over 35 euros, which with shipping works out a minimum of 16 balls - approx 3.19 each. I guess we need a mix of both colours as - it's not often above 70F on a Thursday night!

So, I can order the the minimum or if we all want a few each then I'll get more. I'd like to get this ordered before Wednesday so they'll be here for next week.

Let me know what you think.

  • What about these? they're in the UK and only £1.50 each, Not Franklin but the same i reckon....

Update: just dropped the seller an email to find out what they can do about combining postage on an order of 15 balls.... see what they say....

  • yeh adam that is the ball i have. I doubt you'll be able to tell the difference between that and the franklin but i wouldn't mind some franklins anyway, got a feeling the enforcer chips too easily, and the seam down the middle where it is joined looks like it could crack at low temps.

wayne, put me down for one orange and one red, if you're ordering.

  • Ballist.....

  • Not to try and hijack Yawns organising a ball buy, these guys will do postage of 15 balls for £4.... so 15 ball delivered would be £26.50...

People might prefer Franklins after Snoops opinion of the potential seam/splitting/cracking of balls... I'd seen these a while ago on the bay, so i thought i'd just chuck it in... Me, I'm not fussed what we get....

  • i bought an "enforcer" the other day too...

we could pay for some franklins with i bike mcr money i reckon...it's toally legitimate thing to spend fundraised money on..esp as sometimes we get paid to do demo's etc...

  • well i don't know as i haven't held both. The enforcer is fine, we have been playing with one for a few weeks now and everyone seems to like it...but if polo goes all official and standardised i would think the franklin hockey balls will be used, and any weight or density difference may be important (however minutely).

i'm not bothered to be honest, we just need more street hockey balls as atm if i don't turn up you're back to playing with those beastly field hockey balls.

Cool, get on this then Nes. Try and get them in time for the tourney. (to be held @ Chorlton)

  • In that case we should go for the enforcers seeing as we can get these a lot quicker probably. Should I order them or do you want to do it Adam? I'm sure we can rid of 15 fairly easily.

  • just my 2pence worth - if everyone else plays with franklins and that is the standardised ball then surely we should use those, especially if the enforcers do break up like snoops said....

if i bike mcr isnt buying them then put me down for a couple of whatever ball everyone decides on....

  • let's buy franklins with i bike mcr money...can someone order them and i'll give you the cash...x

  • Franklins ftw

    pukes on enforcers

  • yeh but franklin need to step up their marketing. check out the ad for the enforcer i found on youtube, so viral...

YouTube - THE ENFORCER - TRAILER

  • I was talking to a guy from leeds @ the concil of doom race and he was saying they are getting a few teams together. If we can persuade the Liverpool crew to give it a go we could get a north west polo league together. Anyone know any other potential northern towns that they have cycling contacts in?

Also we should think of some ways to promote it in the north west. Any ideas are welcome.

  • quite a few people seem to know about it, like people in troff seem to know what the mallets are about etc. I just don't think it's very easy to get people actually playing as everyone i know literally thinks it's the most ridiculous idea they have ever head. they literally can't get there minds round it, whilst they trot off to the gym to run for an hour on the spot, facing a wall.

  • let's buy franklins with i bike mcr money...can someone order them and i'll give you the cash...x

OK, I'll order these tonight. I was thinking 9 orange (cold weather) and 6 red (for those rare days when it's hot and sunny)

  • run for an hour on the spot, facing a wall.

I particularly enjoy slowly cycling past the people on cycling machines at the Sugden Centre and seeing them look embarrassed about what they're doing, muppets...

  • liverpool played the tourney last year it was chickins lot...

i told the leeds guys i'd go with loads of mallets and show em how it's done...they gonna send me a date apparently but still not heard..i wanted leeds to do it so we can have a war of the roses league...

thanks for ordering the balls wayne, lemme know the cost and i'll bring it thursday.

am gonna make a poster now to advertise polo. should i put sundays on it? should i put platt fields or chorlton? if we gonna do the tourney in chorlton we need to start practising there.

also please DO NOT ask the parks permission. platt fields have said we'd need to pay 500quid plus pay for st johns ambulance etc..we need to just go down and put up some posters and ask people in the coming weeks to appreciate what we're doing...

also there is a school on clraemont road that has a basketball court seperate to the actual school grounds but is closed off to public use when the school is closed.. i am gonna maybe speak to them and see if we could use that. anyone wanna ride to it to see if they think it would be good, maybe before i call them?? we'd have private use of it then...

    nes x x x

  • I've just read in Balls thread of Polo that they're not entirely happy with the Franklins - a bit heavy. Maybe just get a few of the inliners as we know they're alright - I'll order these tonight and hopefully we'll have them for the weekend.

  • put me down for a couple of whatveer balls people end up buying and inform me of price at the time?

  • am gonna make a poster now to advertise polo. should i put sundays on it? should i put platt fields or chorlton? if we gonna do the tourney in chorlton we need to start practising there.

Yes put Sunday on there too. And Chorlton.

So this this mean Platt Fields is a definite no for the tourney? Or do you mean don't ask for Chorlton parks permission?

  • took the words right out of my mouth woody, good man.

  • Team Knob lost that game 5-1.
