  • JUST? swapping frames?

  • JUST? swapping frames?
yeah, he wants my frame and i want his (so to speak...).
need to move all his stuff over to mine and vice versa (coz all his components are crap).

If all the componants are crap on a stock bike then his frame is probably crap too?

doesn't look that bad tbh, although i know virtually sod all about bikes. think it's just really old. crank is 'old style (male threaded spindle)' so will need to change BB too. peddles are crap. bars are rusty and brakes are caliper. wheels are about the only decent thing on it but he bought them seperately...
thinkin of using it just as a polo bike and then building up my other mtb frame as an everyday bike.

sorry woody were not all good enough to be sponsored!

is it proper horizontal dropouts or just like road dropouts?

if its road dropouts it will be a shit frame

    or

also a dropout it not called a dropout if its properly horizontal :-p

  • this one. crap then?

  • Not neccesrily crap just maybe not worth swapping your frame for?

pretty much 100% of mtb's with that dropout are shit,

Really good old road bikes all have them but not mtb

Personally I'd stick with the frame you've got. Looks to be far superior over the one you're considering swapping for. Not worth it for the sake of being singleator-less.

If its for polo and you really prefer single speed sell your curent frame on ebay and buy a old mountain bike or one designed for single speed. what makes a shit frame for polo? my frame is tig welded scaffolding manufactured by tawainese babies, still has nice gemetry and hasnt got any damage. some mtb have different rear hub spacings though.

  • Yeah yoav keep that bike, it's mint for polo! Just practice riding it more ;)

  • wow scott that bike is nice, you spend too much time on the bay!

  • Yoav, i still dont get why you want horizontal dropouts... you dont want to go fixed gear do you? is it because everyone else has them?

  • ok, will let you know.

  • is it because everyone else has them?
err... no. it's coz it'll run easier as singlespeed without the need to a) have a chain tensioner which can get damaged by playing polo and b) have to adjust the tensioner as well as the chain every time i change between polo and road gears.

  • besides chuckles, why do you want a mullet? is it coz all the supercool hipsters have one?

  • All i did was search single speed frame, not exacly hard or time consuming, but yes i do spend too much time on ebay.

I dont think i've ever seen a hipser with a mullet....
