Dont wanna put a downer on it but surly plattfields ill be dark? the floodlights from the bmx track arnt good enough and any new players (which i doubt will come) will get a bad impression of the game. Hopefully il be proved wrong though!

+1
We should hang out at Platt Fields for a bit then take interested people along the Fallowfield Loop to Manley Park perhaps?

well see if the light is playable. you lot used to play every thurs in winter at PF
-
• #2909
went through this with Andy the other day- we used to play there every week!
BUT if there are only a few people, which i think there will be, i dont see the harm in cycling them along to Manley park, although maybe along the road so they know where theyre going/how to get there again? -
• #2910
definitely won't be more than a few people. what time start? i finish footy at 6. sorry woody but there's no spaces left in the football match, i know you bloody love it. what a game eh?
-
• #2911
yeh what time start? true plattfields was ok last year but things have improved since then, i know what your sayin tho. i guess also because this is a beginners session it means not so much polo for us but tonight is all about the new people and even if we dont get anyone new at least we are trying. see you all there

just recieved the facebook email, 7.30 at owens park!?!
Alex Lynham sent a message to the members of University of Manchester Polo Society.
Subject: Tonight (Thursday)
There is a taster session this evening for those that want to play, meeting at Owen's Park entrance at 7:30. Mallets and stuff provided, though bring a bike if you can.
Come along and give it a try!

for fucks sake. we arranged this almost a week ago and they decide to send an email out to just the fb group (their lil mates) a few hours before? and with the wrong fucking time?!
I emailed back and told him we are meeting at 6.30 as arranged, and most likely won't be there at 7.30
Fuck nolo. -
• #2916
7.30... that means by the time we fuck about wipe their arses & blow their noses for them it'll be 8.00 and the BMX floods go off at 9pm on a good night....
yeah... lets meet a 6.30 at Platt Fields regardless...
-
• #2917
no i think 6:30 plattfields, see who comes let them have a go then we go to manley at 7.30 or somthing, we do still have some new people regardless of nolo remember
-
• #2918
I'm nto playing tongiht so can't say what you guys are gonna do, although i do think some people should be at platt for a little while, even just to bring people to Manley.
I ahve emailed back to them and written on the group page that we are only goign to be there at 6.30, not 7.30
amateurs! -
• #2919
yeh no worries, its fine we are used to being let down by newbies now but see how it goes, no polo no nolo... or something
-
• #2920
yeah well, think this is a sorta 'last chance' for me, i can't be arsed to try and organise there shit for them just to have them go and fuck it up/not put in any effort.
i mean 'theres no polo cos its the winter season' what the fuck. if you want to wear sombreros and get drunk and jump on each others backs, fine, if you also want to play polo, fine, just decide! -
• #2921
honestly guys whats wrong with playing at platt fields just once to get some people in - not everyones gonna turn up at 6.30 on the dot - if we fuck off to manley park some new people might arrive late and not bother again - maybe noone will show but theres nothing wrong with platt fields for a beginner session - we played there all last year and the years before......

as i said to andy the other night. imagine you are a fresher/ young student and you see a flyer/ email telling you to ride in the dark to some random part of a city you never went before to a random park where there would be a random gang of people on bikes that you never met before...you wouldn't go...well, you probably shouldn't go. At Platt Fields it's near where students live nad know other people and they don't feel so intimidated. They can easily ride off if it looks dodgy...I just think that for a taster polo session it's more important for it to be easily accessible and nice (I think it would have been better doing it during the day at the weekend but...)
Once they have met people and seen what it's about they'll prolly feel fine about riding to parks further afield..they can even ride with others that are coming once they've met people..
know what i mean?
and yeah...no one will be on time
-

and yeah...no one will be on time
very true. imagine if we said manley at 6.30. any newbies would get there 20 minutes before anyone and it's not a very studenty area, so they'd go home rather than wait around.

plus nolo just sent this out:
"There is a taster session this evening for those that want to play, meeting at Owen's Park entrance at 7:30. Mallets and stuff provided, though bring a bike if you can. Come along and give it a try!"
So they won't be there til 730pm not 630 anyway..

fair enuf... who's actually gonna be at platt fields for 6.30? anyone... i'd rather get at least a few decent speed games in before Nolo turn up.... List!
"I'll be at Platt Fields for 630pm"
1) Adam
hell yeah! i haven't played since thursday cos i had a lot of work on. itching for a game. and wanna see the parisian panache that you lot will have picked up
