  • Haha.. Don't worry, I've not forgotten ;)
Have procured a CRec NJS 27.2 seatpost..
Sourced an amazing NOS 3R NJS saddle and some CRec NJS med toeclips (don't even know if large ones exist!) but yet to arrange finalities..
Still needing the HS and some rims.. You'd find rocking horse shit easier!

  • Campagnolo C-Record fully NJS branded headset.. Tick!!

  • Jeeeezzzz. Any pictures of where your at?

  • Will post in a couple of weeks after I finish my on-calls.
Awaiting a saddle and seatpost and otherwise needing rims and handlebars. Think the bars will be something temporary as Cinelli NJS don't come up too often! Or maybe Crystemblue.. Rims are posing to be a big issue!

  • what are you thinking rimwise? ideally and/or realistically?

  • I was thinking Araya Tita-Ace NJS ones but I think that as they are tubs then they'll make the build even less practical than it already is. It would be cool to have NJS everything but not sure it's the best for street use.
Otherwise I'd seriously love a pair of araya super aero's but considering I've been searching for almost two yrs with no results then it's posing a bit of an issue!
Think I'll have to settle for some form or araya (or possibly hplus) lo profile numbers. Suggestions welcome though! Cheers

  • edit: actually I guess you want the original not new version if you've been looking that long? probably take you another couple of years there...

Kinoko website says they have 1 super Aero and there's a couple of listings on Yahoo auctions (you'd to use a proxy service of course)

    These are lush.

    Just get shamals.

  • Yeh def the old version.
The problem is 36h and clincher. I've see. All other hole counts but not 36 for sale! I know they exist though, it's just a matter of getting my hands on some ;)!

  • Headset pressed in. Awaiting some NOS crec bearings before the HS is finally assembled. Phone doesn't take good pics of it unfortunately..

  • No thread for the dale?

  • Nah not yet. Awaiting the front wheel back from Royce and also planning a wee custom prototype bike build endeavour so may have to sell the dale but not sure yet ;)

  • Another custom?!

Is it not love with the dale after all?

  • Haha thinking so but just a cheap mielec or something to gauge whether or not it fits properly. Love the dale but just really wanting to get something built for me that fits as good as possible and has everything I want on it. Plus the 3R is costing a fortune ;)
Oh and playing with the possibility of a BMW Park Bike... Hard to resist!

  • As promised. NOS crec bearings installed. Looks smart!
Only issue is that the steerer is about 3-4mm too short :/ the top nut threads on well so it does have a good 'lock' on it but just wondering if anyone has any words of wisdom about this? Should I stick in a bit of 1" tube to make up space or see if someone can weld a bit extra on? Obv don't/can't re weld the whole threaded tube.. Cheers!

  • it should be fine as long as it's got three full turns on the threads, the only thing i'd be worries about is moving the quill stem and it hitting the headset?

might be worth getting the top nut machined down my the necessary amount? given the precision of this build though I can appreciate that not being massively popular

Tbh i reckon it'll be fine, anyway, sub'd!

  • Thanks for the advice mate, appreciated. I've not put a stem into yet so not sure about any movement in it. It does have almost 3 turns and as I said it seems to lock in place nicely. Think I'm going to sort out all parts first and then start addressing things like the steerer. TM seems to be sending his Woundup to get extended so will see how that goes for him.

  • Yeah, they're happy to add a bit on the top if it's for a quill setup, they told me no way for ahead in the past, but quill fine, I directed TP88 to them previously and they did a great job for him... They're not expensive either at woodrups but obviously they are in Leeds.

  • These frames are objects of utter beauty.

  • Hush now, nothing to see (or read) here.

sticks fingers in ears and whistles

  • Is yours the same?

Presumably, but 1cm smaller. I haven't seen it yet.

Now I have a full set - Kalavinka, Nagasawa and 3Rensho...

  • ???

  • Incoming...

  • Cheers TM, I'll give them a call in the next week or two and see what they say. How much did they quote you for it?
BnD! Do you have some sort of craziness arriving in the post?! You're right though, the 3R's are beautifully constructed and eye to detail is incredible especially in the custom made ones..
