It looks great btw, Lee. Apart from the brake hosing, obviously.
When does the Norwegian summer end?

Hurry up and start another one ;-)
Really need a normal bike.
Not sure how to build something normal though.

Cheers.
When does it start?Came home from a UK visit, mid October, to 1/2 meter of snow a couple years ago. So fingers crossed.

It's a mountain bike. Don't be so soft.

Hello
I have bought a N171 automatic nuvinci hub gear and I need advice on a strong and maintenance free setup of rim and spokes.
I know that the criss holmes rim is strong but I struggle to find one without the holes in it. I also need to use studded tires in the winter so the rim can't be too wide but I also fancy fat wheels. My plan is to make a stoked setup with a golden motor "smart pie"
I have used this in my front wheel but it is too weak when the speed is slow. -

Why do you need narrow rims for studs?
The Schwalbe spiker pro comes in 26" x 2.35".
I have a 29er Spiker pro. Its a serious winter tyre.Check trials sites for rims.
http://www.tartybikes.co.uk/26_inch_rear_rims/inspired_pro_26_inch/c25p11809.htmlI'd be very tempted to get a large marge DH rim though. Chuck a 2.35 spiker pro on there in the winter, and you'd have a beast.

I'm fitting PBW mudguards. The front one is a 'crud catcher' style down tube mounted guard. The
forkstrut doesnt come into it......and I needs them for avoiding sludge covered clothes when winter cycling.

Thanks
I like the look of the Large Marge too.
I don't like the original fork on the yuba And if I go for the Large Marge it is to narrow so I have to buy a wider one.
Fenders on a fat yuba can be interesting though. -

Your right about the fork. My 45mm rim and 3" tyre is fecking close. Had to tru it i the fork. No fender room. Going g to install a crudcatcher when I ditch the geared cranks. Just add a salsa fat fork. It'll give you fatty goodness and anything cage mounts.

Slowfluffer, On-one just released a 24" wheels fatbike for kids.
Just putting this out here.

What about the Pugsley fork? the Axle-To-Crown: 447mm is closer to the std height on the yuba but wider.

True.
My Yuba has an intregrated headset. As apposed to the external one pctured one the site BTW.

Yeah very cool.
I'm more into the guy that was building his own rigid carbon lefty. Bonkers.

I'm already on a list of interest for some chinese carbon fat rims.
My GFS rims are easily the shittest I've ever owned. I need the Surly style offset drilling for my front wheel though.

If it were mine It would have green hubs and frame bolts.
If its worth doing, its worth overdoing.
IIRC he had to grind off the original welded on clamps, from the lefty. Clamping a fork thats not designed to be clamped seems dodge to me. But if it works you get a more modern lefty out of it.
Its been 1C some mornings, and there is new snow on the mountains.
Soon.
It's pencilled in for completion in 2017.
