Seems to have a few (so called) experts scratching thier heads over this one. C'mon chaps, never seen a 30's Gate Stayer before?

.....t'would indeed be an heinous act if converted to a regular track iron, first of all if it is a gen-u-wine stayer the b/bracket would be thrown out of kilter if the front is raised up plus it wouldn't handle at all well, this item needs some sensible effort of research and a good place to start would be Trevor Jarvis the Veteran Cycle Club marque enthusiast at << http://www.tjcycles.co.uk/ >> although you normally have to be a member of the VCC I think in this case he would be interested enough to make an exception, why do all of this? you need the Bastide project funds and the eventual sale in the right arena could well exceed your expectations!!
Yep not a problem, would convert to regular track iron or awesome uswb road fixie.

any pics of the bike before it was taken apart?
I'd like to see some too.

Any history at all ? Wouldn't something as rare and unusual as this be quite famous ?

Malaysian, didn't you have a little bidding war with me the other day?
-

For comparison. Here is a 30's Stayer frame. Note the long headtube. Yours is very short.
The font fork dropouts on this Stayer are rear facing in line with the reversed forks. Your fork dropouts are forward facing. As would be evident on a reversed road fork. Note also on this Stayer the pre war Chater rear dropouts. Very slight.
I would be genuinely interested to see pictures of your bike's geometry as a built machine.

Speculation/headscratching: Could it be that stayer geometry hadn't yet become standardized when the Baines was built?
Or that the Baines is some kind of proto low-pro (protolopro)?

Message for the 'BONK' - You clearly have a problem with the sale of this Baines and to be quite frank some of your theories are pathetic, if you do not have any constructive criticism then I strongly suggest that you take your ridiculous comments elsewhere! More than a few fellow enthusiasts agree with me on this one so take my advice and shut the F**K Up!

Ultra rare Pre-war Baines Gate Stayer (Track) open to offers. 24" ultra short wheelbase, cutaway head lugs, track ends, twin plate fork crown, round section blades. Seat configuration slightly different to road versions with exta reinforcement presumably for track use (see pic's). Comes with original clamp syle steel head set & seat pin. Believed only Baines Stayer in UK?
Cool project, straight & dent free. Re-enamelled would make a fine example, prepared to post (£14.00 - Royal Mail Global Value).
Is this offers only?
