Cheers for the heads up but a mate at work is giving me some old mavic rims on omega hubs, just needs a rear hub and relacing. I think the only thing im currently missing is a rear brake but i need to stick a wheel in there and see what drop i need.

Love cheap and cheerful builds.
Personally I'd go for risers on a beater.
Just that little bit easier when you're drunk.

OK cranks are here;
Grand total of £7 off ebay. They don't even have a proper chainring/bolt arrangement, it's all one piece which i find amusing. I can feel the flex now! Branded Silstar and 48 teeth of pure beater power!
Running total of project = £32.
be careful if you plan to use those for skidding

Yeah i know mate, i'm only running singlespeed on this for now so shouldn't be any issues. If i ever convert it to fixed (which is highly likely when the novelty of coasting wears thin) i'll stick some cheapo lasco's on there or something.
Update;
- Front wheel acquired thanks to mate at work. I really like it, retro chiq to the max - Mavic MA2 on a n Ofmega hub. Rear to follow. Tyre and tube installed from the cupboard.
- Rear hub ordered from Planet X (my mate says the matching rear hub is not usable since his dad nicked the axle and freewheel from it) - £15 for a rear track hub, yes please!
- Ordered a £5 18T freewheel from eBay.
Total so far = £60.

Liked the risers more.

Yeah so did I!
I'll see when i get it together and might get a cheapo pair of BMX levers on there. Like i said the main reason to stick the risers on there was so i could use the bar tape and levers and clear them out of the cupboard!

I didn't.
Should've figure 8 wrapped. It'd look neater without hoods.

^Hmmmm, yeah although part of the "spec" with this bike is to make it unattractive. I think those levers just scream "old" and "shit". Bear in mind the toptube and seattube will be getting wrapped with old inner tubes. It needs to survive a night locked up in the middle of Shoreditch ;-)

Update once again, nearly there...
Hub arrived today so unlaced the rear mavic ma2 from the knackered hub and relaced with 32 spokes of the right length i had kicking about that were spare from nan old wheel i reused the hub off. 4 spokes short of the full 36 so a quick ebay and 2 quid later and 8 are in the post!
Also managed to find a shimano r450 rear brake in the flat with exactly the right drop, its amazing the stuff you accumulate :-s
Just waiting for my freewheel to arrive and need to hook up the brakes abd we should be good to go.

Adjust seat and bar angle ;)
-

Nope, its comfy!
-

Bars adjustment is just for looks, so you can keep it like this.
But you have to adjust the seat, you will notice it once you rode more than 3 miles.
-
• #44
I rode 12 miles today on it im hardcore. Jog on sunshine.

i know it's a beater but...
locking fail and front wheel is on backwards.
-
• #49
Locking fail being the crap lock? Yeah i know it's only to lock the wheels to the frame, the fagh should keep the frame in one place.
Wheel is on backwards? It's symmetrical, you mean the skewer?
