Grippy or slippy?
Slippier than Cambridge. Not too bad.

is that chan in the video?

I came off a few times the first time I played there from slipping, but I've only ever played on tarmac.

The court can feel a little slippy when you first go on there after tarmac. We did a treatment on it a few weeks back which made it lots grippier. This only lasted a week though as the courts were used for other non-polo activities and became dusty. Rest assured that every effort will be made to prep the court and maximise grip for the tourney.

So when's sign up? I want to know I'm in before booking time of work and stuff... And both are better done sooner rather than later!

I'm also considering doing a night ride leaving London on Thursday night, anyone else up for that? It's like the dd only in the other direction?
(if I do this I will be riding my road bike with the polo bike hitched to the back...)

Does tyre cleaning help? People were asked to do it at the Manchester Nationals a few years ago.
Perhaps doing that on arrival and asking that people clean them again after they go outside would do the trick.

Ok everyone. We are opening registration for this event on Monday 13th February at 12.00 midday. Team registration will be strictly on a first come first served basis (sorry about this but we are limited due to only having the 1 court).
"How is it going to work?" I hear you all ask.
I will publish a link to an online form on this thread at 12.00 midday, Monday 13th February. This will allow you to fill out an online form with your team details and primary email address for us to contact you on. Once you have filled out the form, I will collate the info and email the first 20 teams that have registered with payment instructions. Any surplus team registrations will be put into a reserves list.
Once we have received payment from your team members, you will be emailed a confirmation of entry into the tourney. There will be a deadline for payments.
We anticipate quite a lot of interest in this tourney so be sure to promptly register your team on Monday to avoid disappointment.

Andre and Campus Skate Park have hooked up with a very cool group that are going to kit the venue out with some AMAZING bike-orientated attractions. These will include a cycle-powered carousel, double decker 'tall bikes', unicycles and other crazy inventions. These will guarantee some laughs and injuries.

NEWS UPDATE: Raleigh are going to be giving us their brand spanking new silver 2012 SS bike as a raffle prize for this tourney. The bike isn't even due to be released in the UK until late March! Well done Andre. You are a Ninja Master!!

IMO in limiting the teams to 24 I don't think this should be a ns event as it does not give all teams the opportunity to play. think this we be a great tourney, but just think this needs to be addressed.

There were only 19 teams last year according to the swiss rounds: http://challonge.com/bristolbikepolo2nd

Bristol polo players can't play in some NS tourneys in 2012 for the following reasons:Family commitments
Running a business
Skint
Work
Holidays
Injury
Mrs don't like polo and wants us to go to Barbados insteadLast year we worked our arses off to provide a venue with 2 courts. Only 19 teams were able to come to Bristol. This year we have an amazing facility with only 1 court. There are enough hours in the day to allow 20+ teams to play. Why shouldn't this be a NS tourney?
Some of us down here can only manage 4 tourneys this year. We simply don't have the time or money to travel around playing every tourney. We see this tourney as an opportunity to score points without leaving the city. This is a reward for all of our hard work organising the event!
I welcome opinions on this....
