    • I'm not a premium user, I'm a hypocrite, it's cheaper.
  • Balls, strava seemed to miss all the segments that I sprinted for on my ride this evening
    meh :(

  • exactly the same for me this morning! absolutely caned it on the mall and you can see from the speed profile that it has included 20 odd seconds of stationary at the end of the segment. I'm definitely on the other side of my strava honeymoon.

  • the mall, that sounds like a fun segment ;)

  • Sounds like whoever created the segment made it just slightly too long.

  • too long, it can't be much more that 1/2 a mile?

  • I fucking did it! The climbing challenge is complete.

    Awesome!

  • with a few days to spare, good work!

    Awesome!

I think the Mall is almost a mile long. It's not a fun segment like a decent climb or anything really outside London, but it is ridiculously competitive on times, and as you can the end of it when you start, balancing your power down it / not just sprinting from the start makes it a bit more interesting than some. If you can hang behind a car down there it helps. Also, as you effectively do sprint the whole thing, the 1% gradient in the last 300m is noticeable as it's when I at least start to really feel the sprint pain. Could do with a bigger gear than 42:16 but holding 11th with a 1:33 at the moment, which ain't bad, which is 120rpm average over the distance but peaks nearer 150.

Big congrats bmxed, that is an impressive commitment to reps in a flat country - how fucking big are your legs now?!

  • Nicely done.

    I'm at... ehem... 60%

  • New challenge looks hard - 1479 miles in a month which is 48 miles a day!!

  • Relatively easy compared with what bmxed has just done.

  • Annoyingly my legs don't seem any bigger than when I started, though big legs would ruin my climbing physique. I do feel a lot fitter and generally stronger on the bike.

I don't know about the new challenge being easier, that's a lot of miles. I think I'd be better off doing the climbing challenge again

  • Props bmxed

  • How many kms did you cycle during the climbing challenge? Great job, by the way.

  • A quick add up of my rides shows it as 2547km. Which includes some track time and a couple of less hill intensive rides.

  • bmxed - that is fantastic. Well done! I've only managed 25% over what must have been a pretty flat 1,000km.

58km for me to do this weekend in order to complete RH2BE. The Nuun challenge thing is well out of my league.

  • I've got to do 139, my cold has done me no favours on this one.

  • I think the Mall is almost a mile long..

    fyi
    0.6miles long

  • 1 KOM, 3 PRs and a 2nd best time on my commutes today. Sorting our cleat angle has made me even quicker on my track bike :-)

  • Question as I'm not very clued up when it comes to phones.

If I were log some rides abroad with data roaming switched off on my iPhone, does this cause problems with GPS/Strava? or am I being thick?

  • No problems. I did this in Oz to get longer battery life.

Oh, I use Android to which Strava saves temp files to sd or something. Not 100% about iPhone.

  • Great, thanks Hippy. So I'll aim to turn off data roaming, log a ride and upload when I get back to WiFi.
