  • I logged into the Strava website to see how big the hike would be today. I was greeted with this message. I then remembered my Strava sub is on an old cancelled credit card. So I haven't been paying my sub for ages. The date on the notification just updates everyday.

So, am I gonna get slammed with a bill or is this a glitch?

  • If you use Chrome then you can use the Strava GPX Downloader plugin and it lets you download anyone's Strava rides as a GPX without having to have a premium sub.

  • Amazing, thanks!

  • If Strava folded, I'm not sure I'd notice. Other than removing a bookmark or two my life wouldn't change a great deal.

How would you even go out for a ride knowing that nobody will know you've done it?! let alone send any kudos!

  • this 100%

    its not a public service

  • Garmin Connect > Strava but @amey is not ready for that conversation.

  • I am not ready for Garmin

  • I'd hire Scherrit as my coach again and start sending him my power data, obvs.

  • Is there a way to hide all Zwift activities? Getting sick of seeing them between people's more interesting routes and rides.

    Can't see an option though?

  • On desktop you can use sauce for strava. https://www.sauce.llc/

  • I expect this is all over this thread but I've just spoken to a mate that had his S-works Venge stolen just before Christmas as one of about 20 high end bikes stolen from properties around the Brighton area. He's just had information from the police that members of this group have been caught but very few bikes recovered. The arrests were made in Gravesend and the police believe the thief's were identifying targets using Strava. So if you make your profile private and start your GPS anywhere but your driveway is this avoidable? Obviously he's doing that now

  • There are settings for whether the immediate start and end of your activities are visible. Can either be specific locations or simply everything.

When enabled, viewing your own activities will display the hidden sections in grey.

  • Also worth noting that if you start your ride safely within your privacy zone, ride down the road out of the area & realise you've forgotten something, ride back & then continue on your ride, you'll have sort of revealed the centre of your privacy zone.

  • The parable of a Strava cyclist.

  • You should prob also state under ‘your gear’ that your bike is a Teman or whatever.

  • But then how do you show off that you've spent £13k on a bike. He called me today to just to show off his new replacement bike that he was about to take for its first ride. He said he's lucky it turned up in time because he's got a couple of sportives this spring

  • Not really, your privacy zone is offset (and you can reposition it). But it is true that if you enter your privacy zone during an activity and exit it again (for example, doing 2 loops from home in 1 ride) the middle part of your ride in your privacy zone won't be hidden. And you will have revealed your location/home address.

Also, if your privacy zone isn't really big and you live in a not densely populated place others can pretty much guess your starting point by comparing a few gpx files and the missing distance.

(in Dutch but google translation is pretty acurate)

  • Just received an email advising me ive been a loyal customer and as a result my subscription charge will go up to £55 big ones in May.

Love strava, happy to pay for it, but it’s a stinger.

  • Any idea why you'd not appear in a leaderboard of a segment? Or how to resolve?
I should clarify it’s recorded a time for the segment.

  • Is the ride visibility set to private, I.e. just you can see it?

  • Just checked, nope.

  • How long since you uploaded it? Sometimes it takes a few hours between uploading and a ride and your times appearing on the Strava segments you rode.

  • It was awhile ago. Really strange…
Only care as it’s 100 climbs

  • This might work:

Go to the desktop site > click on the 3 dots > 'Refresh Activity Achievements'

  • I have a few segment leaderboards that don't update anymore when getting a PR, even after an activity refresh. So some segments are a bit buggy.
