I've had a KOM for ages and every time it was beaten it was by someone doing 70mph (having I assume left their GPS on in the car heading home)... until this guy beat me by 1s.
Former World Rowing Champion and Olympic silver medalist. Came 2nd to Marcin in the Nat 25.

What’s gonna happen with the rise of ebikes?
Seen a mate getting some decent climb times on his emtb, wonder if it’ll muddy the waters. -

Strava is already nonsense with GPS errors filling the top 10 of loads of segments. e-bikes is more of the same.

• #5055
eEPO is the future.
-
• #5056
It is certainly not compulsory! I prefer it to a turbo.

• #5057
Komoot lets you specify if you recorded using a ebike.
That said, the pleasure of overtaking someone on a ebike uphill is still very much real (not on Strava) -

I’ve had a few KOMs taken by ebikes. I dislike myself for doing it, but the only way is to do a little research. They’ve sometimes got a photo of their bike, or a comment on a ride from a mate like “How’s that new ebike working out for you Steve?”
I don’t imagine anyone would put in the time if they got bumped from 4th to 5th or something so eventually the leaderboards won’t mean anything. Which is fine. We won’t be able to see them without paying anyway.

You don't need to pay to see the leaderboards. It's the list/leaderboard of all your own attempts at a particular segment that you need to pay to see.
I've flagged a few from a few running segments I was in the top 10 for (somehow). I felt bad (briefly, but got over it) as a couple of them I flagged were good runs that someone had done but then didn't turn off their GPS until they'd got in the car and driven part way home (and probably realised when the next km or 5km autolap bleeped away).

Those people deserve to die a fiery death anyway. I’m out in the country side to enjoy the peace and quiet, not listen to your fucking Garmin chiming away every two minutes.

Shouldn't feel bad for flagging, they can always just crop their run / ride.
-
• #5062
Be a real shame if someone were to come along and take it...

• #5063
I sense a '100 kms of Northwall Road' becoming a thing...

• #5064
Happy for anyone to have a crack. I will just up it to 150 and then 200. Be good incentive for me.

• #5065
The biggest issue in going over 100 km is that when I did that, I got home pretty dehydrated despite having two 750cl bottles with me and doing plenty of prehydration. I will have to see if I can persuade my wife to drive over with more water or find a safe place to store water behind a bush.

• #5066
Just drink your own urine. Add a hydration tablet of your choice to enhance the flavour.
-
• #5067
Musette in a tree is my usual option. Don’t think anyone is going to be interested in bottles in the current climate :-)
-
• #5068
Also helps if you flavour with lemon/yellow stuff for the full "bottle of piss thrown from window of car" effect.
-
• #5069
Why don't you stick another couple of bottle cages on a saddle mount bottle cage thingie, like we use in the longer TTs?
-
• #5070
Surely orange for the authentic dehydrated uber driver vibe

Worried about the weight 😂🤣

The potential aero advantage probably outweighs (sorry) that miniscule disadvantage and fixes your dehydration issue at the same time.
-
• #5074
I still have a KOM in London from 2012 that I set on he first day of the Olympic lanes, when everyone was still respecting them. Surprised no-one has nabbed it during lockdown
-
• #5075
Just buried myself to try and bag a KOM, only to realise I’d done the wrong segment (managed 4th but 1st probably out of reach!).
Arse.
Christ. I reckon that's a pretty safe KOM....
I've got no proper KOMs, but I unintentionally hoovered up a load touring years back. Over time they've slowly fallen away and I've got 2 left. One is a weird remote border crossing between Argentina and Chile stranded between two lakes - it was barely rideable. Even though any half decent amatuer cyclist could crack it given a go, I will be absolutely gutted when I lose it.
