  • The chap who created the Enhancement Suite is a good good person.

  • Thanks! I should have checked. Now I don't have to see that shit.

  • Are you able to clarify you opinion on Zwift?

  • With pleasure.

    It's lame.

  • I don't know if it's been discussed recentley but open maps on starva is bullshit. Is it impossible they'll go back to using Google?

  • I'm hoping the reason they switched to OSM is so in future they can offer their own turn by turn navigation (probably for premium members only, but would be cool for those who don't already have a Garmin).
Seems pointless/odd that you can plan a route and follow it in Strava (feature which started on old Google Maps) but you can't have the option of turn by turn commands, which are a feature of the Google Maps app.
I think the swap relieved them of a lot of legal contractual guidelines.

  • Google have some thing about making Maps available for free and it can't be behind a paywall. Maybe that's an influencing factor.

  • OSM has the trail names on TrailCentres, which is useful.

  • I just want street view.

  • has anyone been having problems with the Strava app? activities that show on my web profile are not being shown on the app either on iphone or ipad.

  • I have a bunch of problems with the iPhone app: Activities not uploading until after a restart, activities not being added to the weekly total, random restarts during long recordings, etc, etc.

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

  • Is it impossible they'll go back to using Google?

The best thing about the Google maps is the Streetview.

I plan my ride using Streetview predominantly, as it make it a lots easier to see what the route look like.

Bit of a shame to lose that, fair enough the OSM is probably easier, but still.

  • Mine's been dodgy since iOS 9 upgrade (iPhone 4S though, so a bit outdated for the OS).
Most noticeable thing is that it doesn't show a weekly total. but does display everything it used to. My battery's knackered so I'm used to the thing turning itself off with '30%' remaining.

  • Only thing bust on mine is the weekly total for rides, and even then it kicks itself into gear by Tuesday, though seems to be recording perfectly well.

  • Is there any way I can download this route to put on my garmin?

    https://www.strava.com/segments/5975179

  • Oh ma dayz Strava profile pages have gone funky looking. Quite nice actually. Kinda of like facebook meets strava

  • Google Fit automatically knows when I am cycling and records my route, effort, speed, elevation etc - just like Strava.
    This is a good thing.
It means I don't have to get my phone out and press GO everytime I set off on the bike... but I don't get my segment smashes.

Is there anyway I can get GFit to push ride results to Strava?
I can only seem to integrate in the other direction (getting Strava results incorporated in my GFit stats).

  • Does it record every ride? Checked Google fit on my Nexus 5 didn't record this mornings commute or a few last week.

  • I have had my Nexus 6P a week and it hasn't missed one yet.

  • How strange!!

  • Any premium members use the Fitness & Freshness chart ? When upping distance and intensity I tend to over train and get a cold/flu/infection. Hoping to use the F&F chart to persuade me to keep a lid on it.
I've used the similar Performance Management Chart in Training Peaks when training for a half marathon last year.

Logging my commutes with heart rate now to get a more accurate picture. However as i've not logged this data before my form is way down and fatigue way up. How long should I give it for it to 'normalize' out

Edit - I could get a better picture by putting in an 'average' suffer score for previous commutes, but it doesn't appear as though Strava lets you do this in the same way Training Peaks let's you add TSS ?

  • Depends on the frequency of your usage. 3 months or so for a weekend warrior.

  • Any premium members use the Fitness & Freshness chart ?

I binned it when I realised it wasn't taking into account running, so for run heavy training it's next to useless. PMC in TP is much much better.

Most systems like PMC/F&F work on the same principles:-

    • Fitness is based on the last 42 days data.
    • Fatigue is based on the last 7 days data.
    • Form is yesterday's fitness - yesterday's fatigue

I do all of mine in a spreadsheet now. The tricky bit is accurately calculating the various TSS scores. The CTL/ATL figures are relatively easy:-

    • Today's CTL (fitness) is 41/42 of yesterday's fitness, plus 1/42 of today's total TSS score(s).
    • Today's ATL (fatigue) is 6/7 of yesterday's fatigue, plus 1/7 of today's total TSS score(s).
    • Today's TSB (form) is yesterday's CTL - yesterday's ATL
