Let this melt into your cranium
Not sure if this is admirable or certifiable. It's certainly peculiar, in both strange and specific senses.
Got a new smartarse phone so have competed against a couple of segments local to my parents'. Just back from my second run over a mile sprint where I lost a full 21 seconds against my first and best effort. Wind was a hindrance though.
I'm not yet familiar with Strava so got excited when I saw I'd chalked up my first 'achievement', but given this meant failing to beat a PB it soon lost its allure. The app and Strava itself are perfect for a boring fart like me and a wonder of human achievement, not far behind the pyramids.

Neither admirable nor certifiable. Not that peculiar either. Strictly functional.

Someone needs to do the inner circle now.

Someone should do it round the hub.

I'm going to log a half marathon, just by running around my bike in circles *

Has anyone had problems with the android version in locating a GPS signal lately? Went on a ride and 3 guys with androids couldn't find a signal, 2 with iPhones could...

^Common issue, can be resolved by changing the operating system release on the Android handset, apparently.

Not had a problem with GPS lock on Samsung Galaxy, HTC Desire, HTC Sensation, Galaxy Nexus.
Conclusion: Other users are trying to get GPS lock inside cafes.

How do you mean "operating system release"? (Excuse the ignorance if its something obvious)

I had two phones, one I cannot remember the name of, then a Wildfire, neither could not get a GPS signal, I spoke to Strava support about it and they said that some combinations of Android software and hardware were not supported.
When I went to the Play store on the handset Strava was not shown- due to the handset configuration being detected by the store.
I got another phone- as Hippy points out, a lot of handsets do work.

Oh right, well I've got a Samsung galaxy s2 and it had been working fine with strava gps until recently, same with my friends android phones. I was wondering if it was a dodgy update or something

Raise a support ticket with Strava

Or just stand outside and wait until you get a lock.

Also worth downloading GPS Status app, which will update you A-GPS data, which should help faster lock ons

Saw that yesterday. If you look him up all his rides have been deleted.

One Strava user blogged: In the spirit of 'clean competition' and following 'laws and rules', Strava owes it to its community of clean athletes to adopt a general policy for doping violators, and in the mean time, strip Lance of his ill-deserved KOMs, and ban him from its service
What a pompous twat. I doubt many on Strava would trouble LA on a bike, with or without PEDs.

Strava is a useful tool, but it's full of tools to boot.
