Oh Hippy,
If only you read threads and didn't just post, I've complemented you on race results loads of times you daft possum.
Was only having a pop at the technology quoting you for fun,
There's been a bit of a league of stravas down here and there's been outrage at people being knocked down on promenades. -

Probably because Swain's lane is a one way road
-
• #1456
ha yeah I know, I mean why not as in there's a bloody segment for pretty much everything else...
-
• #1457
Could mark it as dangerous.
-
• #1458
Don't you have to ride it first before you can mark as dangerous?
-
• #1459
KOM Spoiler Ride anyone? Cycle all of the silly KOMs & then mark them all as dangerous.
I suggest we start with Richmond Park first.
-
• #1460
Haha, I'd be up for that.
E&C roundabout should definitely be included, as well as that ridiculous one round the Aldwych towards Waterloo Bridge that was posted upthread somewhere.

Ha, just uploaded an old file and scored about 20 KOms..
http://app.strava.com/rides/24603670Average speed 145kph. Booya! Methinks they need to work on their processing..
You broke Strava.
I didn't realise that it had a weight limit.

Afternoon all. This may have been dealt with on here before and I admit I can't be arsed to read the last 20 pages. iPhone 4s, full battery, strava for 4 hrs battery out. Any tips on making that battery run a little longer? Is there some sort of 'background' setting I can employ or are iPhones just bollocks for this sort of ride?
-

GPS is a receiver, not a transmitter- be interesting to see if it would therefore work with aeroplane mode on.
If so then that would cut out a lot of the power drain, as the GSM and 3G radios would be off.
-
• #1466
It won't. You need mobile diesel generator.

Firstly, close all background running apps by doing this.
I read a post on this thread whereby if you switch on Airplane mode it will make your battery last much longer. I haven't tried this, but I fail to see how this can't work. No signal + No Wifi = Less battery usage,

Cheers pifko

Switching wifi off definitely helps, but switching to airplane mode will cut off all transmission/reception,no?
Just tried it here and strava couldn't get a gps signal in airplane mode - though coverage is crap round these ends so it could be that. -
• #1471
Airplane mode shouldn't stop GPS as GPS is not transmitting. This is the case on Android, don't know what failphones do.
-
• #1472
I bow to superior techy knowledge but just trying it now i get: wifi off = strava ok, airplane mode on = strava not ok.
Cycle meter says the same thing. GPS not working. -
• #1473
I think what I'll do next time HMS is just ask you to link me in to your ride so that it looks like I've been up all the hills 30 seconds quicker than I actually have.
Wifi off and background apps shut down for sure on the next one. I'll keep you all posted on comparable battery life should anyone here be at all interested.

Sure. Did you notice that Benj's garmin reckoned that he did 1,200 feet more climbing than the rest of us?
Highly suspect if you ask me. -

That'll be his on board EKG fucking with his GPS.
I mean, damn, this training is really paying off.
