Does you're speed noticeably drop during peak times?
-
• #28
Speed is crap at Peak times the catch up on programmes takes ages to load. Thinking of going back to analogue

Little worried now as I was happy with the 20Mb O2 broadband I was getting (exchange is at the top of my road so I actually got 20...).
I just wanted a little extra top end speed to download VOD etc.
Not that it matters but i'm only taking out their cable broadband package and no TV services.

Only really noticeable on iPlayer.
Not noticeable on LoveFilm.
The problem isn't with the BBC though, it's with Virgin and their link... either locally or to the BBC.

Can anyone with proper Internet check whether virgin media has crashed again. No cable and my virgin media tv box led display is flashing the word 'cunt'
Proof: My set top box this morning

My Virgin broadband was down for 24 hours last Friday/Saturday. It went down for a minute this morning. The man in the flat above mine says his went down and is still down.
I never have problems with i-player though - 10MB. -

This 'suspected local areas fault' seems random
I suspect its just fat people who are affected this time. Your man upstairs Will, is he fat? -

Have you told them that on the phone?
You may wish to tell them that you're going to share it with the press as you're outraged and offended that they (it is their hardware) are calling you a c*nt.
That might provoke them into getting out there to fix it.
Having seen it... I wonder whether some script kiddie hacker is on the network in that area.

(Could have predicted that i suppose)send it to their twitter page and add Richard Branson. Nurseholliday did this when we had issues with our virgin media.

That would be impressive, and bringing down random VM internet and TV. good for his CV

Up and running...

Over in Brentford:
I suspect the slight difference could be attributed to the gigabit network and that I run Linux.
-
• #42
Yes, mine was over WiFi which would explain it.
-
• #43
Certainly does.

So I'm still with no service. Have just tried BTFON hotspot wireless internet. paid £5 for 24 access. This is so much faster then I ever got with Virgin (and they haven't called me a cunt yet).
Bye bye virgin I think. Going to look up BT packages -

Damn, i'm not even getting a quarter of that and i'm in shepherds bush.
I'm so tired of calling virgin and spending hours on the phone trying to sort it out...

Email the chief executive direct (addy widely available, google/guess it). I did when we had a crappy first installation, and he personally replied within 5 mins, and his assitant arranged for a full reinstall at our convenience, then followed up a week later to make sure everything was ok.

Finally got my internet back.
Seems when virgin media wired up my neighbour they unplugged my cable and plugged the neighbours. They are refunding me the cost of paying for BT hotspot crap wifi and apologised profusely.https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-ZH1eik1HN9E/Tzo5WjgYMsI/AAAAAAAACd0/bEI_tWvCZCc/h301/2012%2B-%2B1
SThinking of leaving them and open to suggestions of a better ISP

Virgin have f*cked up again. There was an outage last weekend (Friday night and Sat morning) my internet was still down on Sunday. Call the help desk again on Sunday; sorry Sir there's a a fault in your area and might take a couple of days. On Wednesday still no internet, I call the help desk again; sorry Mr jaw, you're being disconnected as of today and we didn't know about this until last Sunday. I mean WTF. Virgin are pulling the plug on Westminster and didn't even bother to communicate this to me.
Now I have no internet, no BT landline up and running and I don't want to sign a 12 or 18 month contract with anyone. Epic fail.

Virgin Media are fucked again. At least, for me... in the Brentford area.
That's a 50MB connection. Latency is so screwed that it's effectively useless. I'm only posting this because my Android can create a WiFi bubble that at least allows web pages to work without failing 1 in 3 times.

Not again!!
virgin down at my place, all services...
Anyone else?
It's not going to help BBC iPlayer though... Virgin is contended in the evening.
