Hey Jake! New bike is looking great!

Aren't they shut down? The made in China welds never really did it for me.

Thanks! Are you still on the festka or did you get something Italian, too?

The frame builder is based in Veneto, with over 40 years experience, producing frames brands such as for De Rosa, Mason & also Cinelli.
Barco?

I'm on a custom ti Stelbel for now but thinking of switching back to carbon, maybe an OPEN UP.

Oof!
How do they achieve those welds? Add excess material and file them down? I’ve only ever seen visible TIG on Ti frames.

They been holy water anointed.

Yeah same as Passoni a lot of post welding smoothing. Does look very nice though
-
• #1441
Yeah as saffronspokes mentioned, it's a similar process to Passoni where they file down the welds. It's quite laborious but looks very clean.

Love the engineering side of casting a titanium frame, is an interesting method. Has this been done before?

AFAIK, it's the lugs and dropouts that are cast and then the main tubes are hydroformed which is pretty cool - then welded - much like an alloy frame.
Litespeed have done some similar forming of Ti tubes.
It's cool. I'd be hesitant to buy a Ti frame that is outsourced though, just because I think there are so many great custom Ti manufacturer's who manufacture in house, by hand for the ~$4000 it costs. But don't get me wrong - it's very cool.
Be inclined to buy a Litespeed if I wanted an unusual Ti frame though:

Anyone ever seen a GT Edge Ti in the wild?
Only seen the same couple pictures from the one guy on pedalroom.
-

I looked into it this morning and it's a similar method to specialized allez sprint. I'm interested to see if more manufacturers follow the same approach and whether it actually sells.

LBS was a GT dealer back in the day. They had a few different ti models.
Some were Sandvik, some were in-house.
All very nice.
Edges are regularly on Ebay. -

Never seen a Ti edge on eBay other than the older 1” fork version. They’re pretty sweet anyways

That'd be mine.. Sold it, a year ago, regretted it and just got my hands back on it last week. Currently building it up again now. Beautiful frame.
