Question: For those of you with experience of both SS and Ti which would you choose if you could only have one? You needn't go too indepth on the pros vs cons but at the end of the day whoch did you prefer? Hope to get something swanky soon and can't decide between the two...

I'm the owner of a lovely ti bike (as of this weekend) built it up myself as my one bike for everything. Well until a few years time I can afford another ti bike.
First impressions, I'm blown away by it. So light and soaks up the road incredibly well. At first I thought I had a puncture climbing out of the saddle.

My Ti Van-Tuyl CX bike, which was sprayed by Arthur Caygill before I got it...
Not sure why it was painted - perhaps a team bike? It is definitely Ti under the paint (took some paint off on the chain-stay) and it definitely rides like Ti
May get it stripped at some point, but I kind of like the novelty of a painted Ti frame... -

I meant smoothness, it just soaks up the road. Almost like climbing a hill you can concentrate on climbing the hill, not the jarring from the road.

First time I took my BMC out. I stopped and checked my tyres. It was'nt the jarring ride I expected on poor roads, and I did'nt want to risk my carbon rims.
after riding my track bike around for a couple of weeks then going back to my old BMC I kept thinking I had a puncture, the carbon chain and seat stays took the vast majority of the small bumps out of the road.

I think the seatpost system has a big effect too.
Still waiting on the drop-outs to be delivered to the builder. For my Ti frame.

Yukon owner unite:)I've had mine rack and guard-less for fast w/end rides, DD and such, then carted 20+kgs over the French, Swiss and Italian Alps without fuss. Did swap the forks for the Amazon Canti ones though, as was a tad worried about stopping me and gear going down the Alps...

Another Yukon owner here, love the damn thing! So light for fast rides but you can really load it down with stuff for trips.
My set up for riding to work will be with the bike pack.eu saddle bag (9-14 litres) and tools in the bottle holder.
Can't wait to get out on some long weekend rides with it.

Such a versatile bike! I can't be bothered with taking the mudguards off but a rack has been on and off it a few times. It's my only bike at the mo so it's used for commuting, sportives, touring, even a little impromptu off-roading (Garmin FTL). Never had an issue with braking but do wonder what more stopping power would feel like when loaded. Couldn't be dealing with mismatched calipers though... :P

I'm just using the Aztec road plus blocks and they're fine. Fair enough I haven't been fully weighed down on it yet.
Oh and like you Wools the Yukon is my only bike, probably for the foreseeable future too. I've got it paired with Velocity A23 rims.
Plan for 2012 is more long distance rides. I know the Yukon won't fail me.
Also I forgot to mention I've got the 2012 Yukon. Drop outs aren't vertical so you can run it fixed if you so feel the need. Talk about the perfect bike!
As an expert commentator whom has ridden neither. I'd go with SS. Its stronger, stiffer, and can is easier to fix.
