Got my self a new Gazelle, Champion Mondial 53cm
feels nice but it needs some work. ill be changing and upgrading a few things over the next few months and using it as my 'proper' road bike, also changing my other Gazelle a bit with some risers, clean mudguards and a small Wald basket.
That's the bike that i'm thinking of putting a Brooks swift on.

Yeah I've got a Champion Mondial too. It's a little later than yours, mid 80s I think; no lug lining and the seat cluster is different.
Mine's SS at the moment - I'm collecting bits to rebuild it with a triple crankset and Deore touring derailers for the ridiculous hills in the Purbecks (which is where I'm cycling this coming summer).

Here was my bike set up for the race. I think I managed to get 13th out of over 64 riders. Was a fun day!

Just put together my new Cinelli. Waiting on some nice new wheels for my birthday, and I'm thinking of putting the paselas back on.

To me it saying ''gimme some swept back bars!''
-
• #448
Ideally I want to keep it stiff, keep it riding nice and fast and only have a touch of the vintage 'gent about town' look. Swept back bars are for mums, and people on the tweed run IMO. I will be sticking some silver drops with brown brooks tape, as soon as I can fashion a shim from a can, and wacking the paselas back on.
It will be a very odd sensation to finally have a bike that requires no work... Once all this is done, my beater will never be looked after so much I imagine!

Why don't you just buy some drops that fit the stem?

I think some classic road drops would look great, maybe Nitto noodle bars, Brooks tape then 2 levers, using 1 as a dummy lever?
Swept back bars can be quite nice actually, as long as you are not to upright, had them for a while on one of my many commuters
I miss that bike.
