  • I think the low-q pictures were easier on the eye...

  • My Dolan is feelin' horny :)

  • See what you did there ; )

  • Is this your Sun frame Steve? Where did the paint go?!

No Stu, it's a Sid Mottram track frame I bought last month. Still got the Sun, in all it's ratty glory :)

  • New Syntace Racelite 7075 bars, a carbon seatpost, Planet X Superlight stem and a Planet X Model B front wheel. This thing still looks ugly but it's the most spritely bike I've ever had. Next step: clipless.

  • Give the fork a light sanding and a coat of black :)

    Looking good Joseph!

  • I actually kind of like the cheeky bit of blue. I will probably eventually spray the whole frame black. Who knows. It gets the job done! Thanks!

  • Trying out clipless at the moment, not fun :(

  • What system are you using? I need to get some real soon. Doing a crit in just over a month and don't want to be a dork and show up with trainers and straps!

  • I use SPD-SL's on my road bike. I find them a bit annoying to be honest, but then my pedals haven't "bedded in" so that they spin really freely, and therefore hang in the correct place for clipping in. Time ATAC's are the fixie skidders choice right?

  • These...

They are for my road bike though, not fixed. Atacs and Sidi's seem to be popular for fixed gear riders

    ...crit?

  • I was thinking about getting Eggbeaters. Might go for Times though.

A crit is just as silly bike race. 20 minutes of racing around Hillingdon cycle circuit in London. Brakeless fixed gear only. Loads of prizes! Should be interesting...

  • I have no problem with plain old SPD's..

Herd bad storys about riding fixed with Eggbeaters, people unclipping when they are slowling down or skidding, but i also herd people like them, they have a lot of 'float' apparently, which is a good thing i guess, maybe you could try mine out? just get your self some shoe's

personally i wouldn't want to be skidding at 25mph with them, id feel much safer with my big thick Bagatoe straps

If your going brakeless you should really do what feels safer, seriously!

  • Yeah, I've heard that too. I've also heard they are relatively easy to get in and out of so good for people just starting off with clipless. I just need something that is double-sided (for practicality) and tough enough to cope with my gear and mass. :P Will probably end up just getting standard SPDs.

On a side note, I hope no one skids in this race! PILE UP!

  • Just went to broadribbs to see some samples of the new (new in england) DZR clipless shoe's, they look great, i'm getting some next week!

are you on about the ones with the spd one side and flat pedal on the other? Also road pedals could be more secure for your gear mass needs, you might prefer those, can't really walk in them though

I think i was trying to get in the pedal the wrong way before, ill try again later

  • ^ not sure about these, laces don't exactly fill me with confidence. Can't really be very secure, either.

  • The Midnight ones look cool. No leather as well. Could be good for commuting to stop the hassle of bringing two pairs of shoes everywhere. But wouldn't use them as my main shoe for proper rides or races.

I meant a pedal which you can clip into both sides of to prevent wasting time trying to flip the pedal to get into it.

  • Finally got the hang of getting in them, just did a lil 5 mile ride on some back roads to test them out, not sure about them, not converted yet.

  • They've called one of their shoes 'Concubine'?
Proper road pedals like the Look Keos hang in a way that essentially means you can clip in as you go down to pedal. They're road pedals though so dunno what you're after. Bit more expensive too

  • Joe (A&P), your bike is making the rounds on the Tumblr fixed gear blogs!
